Michael Bross, Oddworld music composer question
I greet you,
ok, to start off with, im planning to compose some odd-music remixes over the holydays. the first ones ill deal with are probably gonna be the bonewerkz music and the soulstorm brewery music. i was wondering weather Michael Bross the composer of all music in the OW games ever made it public what program he uses and if he uses Propellerhead's Reason which i find very likely, which refills he used. probably its a business secret although im hoping it isnt. Can somebody help? cheers! |
Well, I believe he did the music for munch's oddysee and Stranger's Wrath.
Although I'm not sure what program he used. But I'd love to hear the remixes! |
yes, he is the author of most if not all music and sound effects on oddworld.
well, it isnt crucial to know what programs and sounds he used but it would be much nicer that way. i would have a larger variety of choices... keep me up to date if u find out something, will you Arxryl? |
he didn't work on AO or AE, only on MO and SW

Hmm... well thank you good to know. I didnt know that. But than I was mislead: why doesnt OI give credit to to the author of AO's music when its downloadable from the official site? It is downloadable from the same site as MO + SW music is, there is no destinction. I actually realised a huge difference between the music from MO + SW and the previous games (Shhh! I like the older ones better). Who is the author of the old games than?

Ellen Meijers was the composer of all the music for Abe’s Oddysee and Abe’s Exoddus, as well as some of the early music for Munch’s Oddysee that can be heard on the visualisation videos. She is credited appropriately in the game manuals, but I dunno why she wasn’t named on the official site. The only reason I can think of is that she simply didn’t work for OWI at the time they were uploaded, so there wasn’t an incentive to mention it. Hmm. Seems cheap.

OK. Does she have a website with bio, or some contact info or whatever? It would be really nice to use OW sounds... oh god i wish i could manage to get some by some miracle :S
EDIT: Necver mind. I found her site. Thank you for showing me the way Max :) EDIT 2: Actually... do u guys think it is rude to ask her my questions? I start to think it is. I could be anyone stealing her music... god what should i do? |
:
glokstar: Uh, I dunno...I used Killy's rips for my walkthrough website (don't bother, they're not working anymore for some reason), and nobody sued me...I think it depends on whether you intend it for private use or public use. |
You can always ask politely.
The worst you can get is that she forbids you to do it. Which is higly unlikly |
Private use, definately. But i dont know what happens if i lets say show to u guys what ive done... Im not good in law...
Well i guess ill just do it. Ill send her an e-mail asking politely, if she doesnt answer, ill do it from the material i can, and that is not against the law anyway. |
Just to clarify one thing; although both Meijers and Bross worked on the Oddworld games for the Xbox, Bross was the only one working on the music for both titles.
Meijers however, like already stated, composed the music for the first two games and later moved on to sound effects for the latter two Xbox games. Hope that clears things up a little bit. |
Its already clear. But thank you. Anyway i mostly gave up... she didnt answer my e-mail. But who was i to think she would after all? Damn, damn...
