Eragon

Anyone ever read the books about Eragon? By Christopher Paolini? It's awesome, he started writhing the thing when he was like, 15-ish.

Anyways, there's a film coming up that's based upon the book.

It's about this boy who finds one of the last Dragon eggs, and the Dragon inside decides that Eragon is worthy, or destined to become a Dragonrider.

I thought it was a good book, and I read the second part of the trilogy, Eldest, as well.

I hear you all coughing *LOTR*, but it has a different feeling to it.

What do you think?

yeah, I've read them, can't wait for the movie.

It has a way different feeling from LOTR, I agree

Honestly, it sounds like mindless drivel to me. But I can't say for sure as I haven't read it.

If you want to read a truly brilliant fantasy novel then you must read A Wizard of Earthsea. You will never look at the genre of fantasy the same way again.

Normally I'd chastise you for pimping something so relentlessly but that series deserves to be relentlessly pimped. So its like the Pern stuff or that new Mercedes Lackey series? Not that I've read that stuff. Heavens to betsy no.

Actually, as far as I've read, it's far more like Star Wars than LOTR. I won't mention any particulars, just in case I'm biased, but keep it in mind all the same. :dodgy:

I've read the Wizard of Earthsea, all three of them, quite a long time ago I think...And I thought they were by far some of the most decent fantasy novels I've ever read.

This Eragon thing sounds kind of like your average cheesy stereotype fantasy. ...The CHOSEN/DESTINED ONE...dragons...magic...destiny...not my cup of tea.

Yep, read both of them last year and can't wait for the third and final book. Yeah,
I visited the movie website a few months ago and I'm kind of intresting
in seeing so thing in it. Thery're also going to release a game for it.

I've read them too and they're awesome! I'm longing for the last part of the trilogy and the movie itself - it won't come until the 15th or 16th of December to Sweden *sigh* Hoping that it will be good :)

There are six books in the series.

A Wizard of Earthsea
The Tombs of Atuan
The Farthest Shore
Tehanu
Tales of Earthsea
The Other Wind

Each book is a self contained story. There is no punch out ending or cliffhangers. Each book will take you farther into Ged's life even though he is only really the main character in the first one. Tehanu is the best of them all.

Weird. I only heard of three. I'll check out the other ones though...
