Neopets

Out of interest does anyone play?

I don't myself, but i was reading the article of Wikipedia and a few points interested me and i wondered if they were true:

:

Religion, in all shape and forms, is entirely banned from the site.
:

The Neopets rule that slash, shounen-ai, or any other type of homosexual relationships cannot be roleplayed (or even mentioned)
:

...(things such as)pop culture, are not to be discussed on the site.
Please reply if you have any idea

Seen it, done it, gone arbitrarily banned. Of course, that was 2 years ago, but things haven't gotten better, based on what I've heard. Maybe I was acting like an idiot, like most 12 year olds do, maybe I wasn't.

Neopets?

I played it way long ago, and got bored real fast.
The food and items are bloody expensive...and the pets don't really do much.

Havoc 10-28-2006 02:33 PM

Played it, enjoyed it, left it but I still think it's one of the better role playing sites. Obviously the age groups is underneath 16 so it's still fun if you're in the right age group. As far as the stuff you mentioned are concerned, I dunno for sure but I think it could all very well be true. Neopets was initialy designed as a place for kids to play and escape from the real world, so things like religion have no place in Neopets. Only shame is that it's going more and more commercial.

I just looked into it and it ain't my bag. Here's hoping WOTC makes fat loot with the card game, though.

I was a neopian and I loved it. But I later found other online games to waste my life on. Like Havoc said, neopets is actually pretty good for that particular age group. It's easy and enjoyable and actually does teach you some nifty stuff that comes in handy in the real world.

I had a Neopet and one that was Pikachu

I hope there is a Monster Rancher game for the PS3.
Those games rule.

I loved Monster Rancher! Apparently mine was the second one, and it had all the best monsters. I still play it.

I'm sure Neopets was a strictly Christian thing? Or am I thinking of something else?

No, it's not. Its head honcho may be a Scientologist, but Neopets is a religion free thing.

I remember going on Neopets a loooooong time ago. But I, the stupidness of me, actually put my real age down when I was like 10, and even still you can't do a shit on there. I mean seriously. You can't go on the forums, you can't swear, you can't even edit your so-called shop description...So, yeah, after it went completely to the dogs, I ditched it.

EDIT: *realizing insensitiveness of post* I get that Neopets is for ages 5-12, but if most of the "free speech" areas aren't for them anyway, then why even bother?

I had a Neopets account for YEARS! The strict rules always pissed me off, but it's a little kid's site, not an older teen site. I always figured it was fair and sensible.
I know I've had at least five accounts (I can't remember the last two or three). At first my user name was munch204, now it's darkcelestialferret. I pretty much just play for the games.

Isn't Neopets made for 8 year olds?

Strike Witch 10-31-2006 12:08 AM

Probably. But we were all 8 at one point :p.
