pizza chain vs. local pizzeria

which do YOU prefer?

Havoc 10-22-2006 11:58 AM

I like pizza's from New York Pizza, they own. But also Pizzahut and Mr. Pizza are very tasty. I prefer chains.

Strike Witch 10-22-2006 01:04 PM

Homemade. just get a base, put some saucy and cheesy stuff on it, and put in oven. Yum.

skillya_glowi 10-22-2006 04:06 PM

I like zee pizza at Claim Jumper's....Even though the restaurant is neither a local pizzeria or a chain.

munchman 10-22-2006 04:52 PM

Out of all the places in America I have gone to, New York has the best pizza!
I like local pizzeria the best.

Bullet Magnet 10-22-2006 05:03 PM

I would prefer the local pizzeria, but only if it were run by Italians. Otherwise it's just nasty.

I've been to several different pizza restaurants. Many of which I couldn't tell whether they were a part of a chain or not. My favorite pizza restaurant, however, is this place called Bravo's near the Pittsburgh airport. I just remember their food having such an awsome flavor and variety.

Unless I'm going out with family, I'll always order at either one of the two popular pizza chains in Australia: Dominos or Pizza Hut.

The pizza tastes great, and the garlic bread does too. Can't complain.

Alcar...

I enjoy the Pizza Hut pizza's, but I also enjoy Eaton Pizza. (Eaton is a town, not the verb.)
I'd say.... chains. I've never been to a New York pizzaria before though.

Patrick Vykkers 10-23-2006 01:27 AM

I myself prefer Pizza Hut to the more local brands. Better quality, and delicious toppings.

Bullet Magnet 10-23-2006 08:57 AM

There's also the Ice Cream "Factory", which you always think you can take for a ride, but you never can.

Unlimited refills? Ha. Turns out it's just for that day.

Orv's Frozen Pizza: 5 pizzas, 10 bucks. Dinner for a week for only ten bucks.
Luigi's Pizza: Always good discounts in the paper, promotions, and college students get a discount. Sometimes they'll let multiple promotions stack, too. Always good. The pizza is damn delicious.
Papa Murphy's:Not a local thing, but a Midwest take and bake chain. Pizzas are very big and discounts on everything. Best late night sports pizzas.

Do you know what blows my mind? The fact that in other countries (bar Australia, I think) you actually sit in the pizza place and eat. That's freakin' crazy.

Patrick Vykkers 10-23-2006 09:41 PM

Yeah, sometimes that's done in New Zealand too.

Statikk HDM 10-24-2006 07:25 AM

Wait, you're telling me that this is some special thing that "blows your mind", to eat in a pizza place? Thats what the pizza place is for!

Bonedust 10-24-2006 05:36 PM

I live in New York where there is either a pizzeria or deli on every corner.
Try finding a chian pizzeria out here.
But one time I went to Vermont and tried the local pizzeria there. I expected it to taste like cardboard with ketchup but it was better than most stuff in N.Y.C.

Do they not have tables and chairs in NZ?

A nice little italian pizzaria up a mountain rocks all westerner foods!

Local FTW.

Any Chicago residents here? Man, I had the extreme pleasure of eating at Pizzeria Uno while I was in Chicago. Birthplace of the deep-dish pizza. You haven't had pizza until you've had one of those.

It's the kind of pizza that you have to sit down in the restaurant to eat. You know, attack it with a knife and fork. Almost worth the hour wait to get into the tiny little pizzeria.

I've never found one, myself.

Hobo 10-26-2006 08:22 AM

Deep dish pizza is nasty.

Thin and crispy all the damn way. But covered in topping. COVERED!

Statikk HDM 10-26-2006 09:37 AM

What are your feelings on calzones then?

toxicity 10-26-2006 02:36 PM

I always like local pizzarias better.

Never heard of them. And neither has Firefox spell checker

Statikk HDM 10-27-2006 07:30 AM

This is a calzone. Try a web dictionary next time.

I recommend them, but they can't beat pizza.

Mojo 10-31-2006 07:38 AM

Actually, Calzone is just a folded pizza.

As for local or chain, if they can get me a pizza with tomatoes, tuna, anchovy, olives (preferably black), unions and mozzarella cheese, I don't care what kind of pizzeria it is.

Although I had some yummy pizzas in one of the Pizza Huts on Curacao. Yeah, those were goood!

Kimon 10-31-2006 01:07 PM

There's a local pizzeria called Bob & Johns that I frequent quite regularly. Soooo... local. Although I do enjoy me a good Pizza Hut stuffed crust. Mm-mmm.

Zebulon 11-27-2006 08:04 AM

Lombardo´s in New York...best pizza there is. trust me on this fellas.

Kamille 12-11-2006 06:14 PM

Thin Crust is usually pretty good.
