!!!Alector's Brandnew Artwork!!!
Hmm, what a headline. This should be clear enough, isn't it? Hihi. Maybe because it's so dark in here and I really can't see the letters on my black keyboard. They should glow! XD
Anyway, before I start to beat about the bush, here is my newest, as the headline already says, art-topic and this time I really try to keep it up. Shame on me that the last died not only because I was careless but for some friends, the pictures didn't work. That's why I'm going to attach my drawings in future, if this is a good offer. Ahem... *coughs* Okay, the following picture is about an anthropomorphic grey wolf, whose name is Pharoah. I've got the name Pharoah from the saxophonist Pharoah Sanders and not only his music sounds really nice, the name is great also and fits kinda to this character. The sketch started on the computer as I wanted to make a new painting in Photoshop. Sometimes, Photoshop doesn't give me the feeling of being a an artist (that's my way of thinking), I wanted to go back to traditional media and drew Pharoah on smooth Bristol board with a smooth 4B pencil, which I sharpened every 5 minutes. The pose of Pharoah seems to be similar to the picture I did some month ago of the elf girl and the wolf, which is in my DA gallery. (My laziness will punish me one day) Anyway, this time, I'm quite pleased with the result and the fact that I modified my own hand while drawing it in front of a mirror. Or at least the reflection of my skylight. Hihi. I really hope you have fun with looking. Thanks! Your Alector |
,,, just !
WOW! This is an amazing picture!!! Respect! |
While I simply adore the detail you used in the head with furs and other stuff, I feel the head looks kind of like a mask. Like it's a bit disconnected from the rest of the body.
But besides from that. Amazing job. I have never seen an anthro drawing that looks so stunningly realistic and I commend you for such a kick ass job. :) |
Hi! Thanks a lot for the kind comments.
used, that's actually a great idea for Pharoah...wearing a mask! Imagine a spiritual creature wears a mask. How much it reminds me on Big Face. I really like him. Hihi. :D |
Oh, my badness! This picture is really great! Very well done, Alector :fuzcool:

WWWWWWOOOOOOWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!!!:eek::eek::eek:
This pic. is amazing!!!! |
impresed... The thing that impressed me the most is nose and mouth.
(Hope you can understand my critics) Head is good, but shadow between right arm and chest isn't. It makes me feel like the arm isn't connected with the rest of the body. Also the arms are not same size, and the part where elbow [sp] is should be litle thiner. Again Great job!! :
|
Very nice picture mate. Any chance you used reference for it, because I recall seeing a similar picture from Shawnye at DA. Good job though, very nice :D.
I have to agree with Dusan on his right arm. It looks a bit disconnected and very thin for that matter. The head is fine IMO though, doesn't look disconnected to me although I can see where the 'colar' of the wolf might create this illusion. |
Howdy! Constructive critic is still the best critic. It gives me much time and chances to think about the drawings or to compare my thoughts to the meanings of the others.
Yeah, I noticed the different arm sizes when I was already shading and detailing the fur. I couldn't erase it because it's nearly impossible to erase on bristol board - would have destroyed the thing, actually. A perfect picture would be boring, I thought and just let it be. lol And yeah, I took references but only from my own drawing I submitted earlier. It was the picture with the elf girl and the wolf with the weird paw. I didn't like it very much and wanted to do a newer version of him with a similar pose. I'm sure there are many versions like this on the world, that's why I actually avoid drawing wolf anthros. It's going to be banal and ends up in a world of copies, which I actually find embarrassing. But hey, I'm still searching for the innovative style, which isn't found yet. Thanks anyway. ;) The next pictures are about a species group on which design I work at since ages. For the subspecies, I finally found the design, which will last to the end of my days. For the main species Cutis Cataractas, there is still much to do. The first two drawings are done with coloured pencils, at which I used one colour for each picture. I didn't find a better description for that, so I just called it mono-coloured drawing. Here, I was trying out new designs of which I'm not very pleased with yet because the faces are still too human. The other two drawings were done with Photoshop. The first was actually a design for a tadpole, which turned out to an embryo-like-creature with a jelly-fish skirt. It's one of my most favourites because it has a very strong meaning to me and I really enjoyed working on it. Second picture was a face and head design of the subspecies Parvus Scolopendras, on which I laid the attention to the back side of the head, which is transparent. There are many important organs bound in this bag of transparent membranes. It's still too human like for me, though. A good thing of this picture is, and that was a big surprise for me, moderators on Elfwood chose it as pick-of-the-day, which was displayed on the main page of this platform for one day. What a honour. :) Hope you enjoy! And now I need to have a look at the other's dude gallery to look for that wolf pic. meh :fuzsad: |
When I first saw these I was like HOLY CRAP, seriously. The detail is really good. It was a little reasurring when I noticed you are 20 :p.
Just a question, how much time does it take you to finish these? |

They are amazing:eek: |
Hey Alector Great pictures ya got there :)
~DS~ |
I am impressed with detailes same as I am impressed with your style. It's great. About that ''to human faces'' I do not agree with you. That is kinda the point.
First one is my favorite. Hands and bubbles precicely. Best. |
WOW! Respect, Alector! Sehr beeindruckend!
|
Wow, they are just amazing!!

Hi again! *blushes when she reads all the nice comments about her pictures* Thank you a lot, friends. :)
I'm really glad you like my drawings/paintings. I try to give my best, which also means that I have lots of fun working on pictures with lots of detail. Sometimes I think it could be more but I don't want to exaggerate and make them overfilled with strokes 'n stuff. The following picture is again a Parvus Scolopendras on which I worked yesterday night. I started with the head and thought that I want to throw it away because I didn't like it at the beginning. Many drawings have the fate to land in the trash can or in the commode with other scribbles. Ah well... But the more I drew on this picture, the more I started liking it and couldn't stop putting more details to it on the skin and characteristics of the back head and back. Sensitivity II is quite dubious with the meaning that there are hard spikes in a row beginning from the shoulderblades and the sensitive parts with the membrane-head and the transparency. One you touch it and it would die... Have fun looking :) BTW: The second picture is a little animation of the Chryseon beast. Everyone should know it, if not, have a look on my DA page. More pictures are yet to come. ;) |
Wow...COOL pics.
The second one is funny:D |
That is cool!! :fuzcool:
I love the first picture and the second picture is nice too. Good work! :) |
Funny animation .
|
Howdy and thanks a lot! :D
Making animations of that creature is really funny, I swear. I work on a new one currently, which I will post in here as well. Time has passed and a week is over again. A week I used to draw two new pictures. The first one is a funny mixture of a Puma and a hornbill. Hornbills are my most favourite birds of the rainforest. I'm not the best at drawing wings and the pose of the paw doesn't really fit to the background but I can tell you that I really like this picture and that I realized a funny idea for myself. The new technique of painting fur in Photoshop was another and new challenge. I played a lot with light and shadow, also with complementary contrasts, which aren't that visible. I hope you enjoy. I also thought of posting a second picture in this post but the content has too much violence and can't be shown here (I think so). Anyway, it will be in my DA gallery soon. :) |
O.O oh my.... These are ace!! :D
|
 Ach, du sch...! Sorry.
That's damn impressive, Alector! I take my hat off to you. I never could do that... |
Brilliant! Impressive! Nice! Cool!
|
I hate you.
