could they be working on a fangus movie?

We don't know fer sure. They could be working on their long-delayed movine of Abe's Oddysee or Stranger's Wrath. Who knows...(Maybe even a movie that takes on from where Stranger's Wrath left off from. XD)

No. The movie will be about Abe. What happens, or what story it's on, we don't know. It IS for sure, though, about Abe. |
There has been no official announcements made. It's not even for certain that the first film accepted by a studio will be Oddworld.

I don't really mind who the film will be about. It'll be cool if it is about Abe or Stranger. I think it'll be really cool if it is about Fangus. I like that character alot. |

As for me, I hope it will not be Fangus. I felt that it was a close shave with the actual Fangus game that the OWI threatened they'd produce, since, I know this is harsh, but I rather think that OWI has lost their touch. If Fangus was in the to-be movie, then everyone would think that it was Oddworld. In my opinion, Fangus didn't even belong on Oddworld. Such a horrible concept, really, has already dampened my opinion of OWI's creativity.
So hard to explain... There was a thread on Fangus, I think, this one isn't much different. |
I sincerely hope it is not Fangus, it would be a midless action movie, plus if it was R I couldn't see it(maybe I wouldn't want to). I would prefer Stranger, it would be an action movie, but atleast it has a mind! :lol:

I just guessed because it was the last game-related project that (supposedly) they were working on.
And I am not a n00b! I hadf a different account but it never worked, so that Bullet magnet feller helped me. I'd prefer an abe movie over munch, but not over stranger. |

I too did not really like Fangus when I first heard of it, but then, that was how many of us felt about Stranger when he was fisrt introduced. Fangus does have the caring part that we love: his hideously deformed flock. And the rabies aspect was interesting. What seemed to put most people off it was the art released. Then again, the whole thing may well have been an April Fools joke. |
I agree Fangus lacked the typically Odd style to him we all look for, and I think giving him proper weapons was completely against the Oddworld ethos, but you shouldn't all be branding it as mindless without ever having seen more than some artwork. It was supposed to have been very dark and much more political than any previous game, and those are things that are commonly demanded of Oddworld games.

I love games like thyat. That why AO is better then a AE. I hate humor. THing I don't like about fangus is simalirity with stranger (not only stranger atmopshere also is the same). They should combine all that in the SW game, and create one hybrid wich would be great!! (those chickens...hate them). MO could be wonderful, just that humor ruined everything. What? I do agree entirely on the darkness, it was wonderful in AO, and somewhat lacking in later games (at least in the same style... it may also be remembered as such because it was our first glimpse of Oddworld. First impressions and all) but I love the humour in all of the games. Particuarly the news broadcasts, petty squambles and the little gems hidden all through SW, with the outlaws.

I wasn't fond of the humour in either MO or SW. A lot of it seemed quite childish and tenuous, while the humour in AE always stemmed from the character's motives and conflicts. Like comparing the later and earlier series of Red Dwarf or The Simpsons.

Yeah, there were a few too many poo jokes in Stranger (Gizzard Gulch Jail) but I still found it funny. Perhaps because they'd even dared to include it at all. But the humour I find is central to Oddworld's character- as is the darkness.

I'm hoping they start with Abe and make their way through the series in the same order as the games.

I have nothing against the humor in the Oddworld games, except maybe it's a bit too childish in MO.

Citizen Siege would be a fitting movie for the times we're living in and I think it would take real balls to make that movie. As far as I'm concerned there will most likely be no movie. If there is a movie it will be like MO. Tell us about it, get us all worked up in a lather, and delay the movie for a seeming eternity. If they were to announce production on a film this very minute it would either get canned midway or be completed about the time I graduate, move out, and work a steady non-grunt job for a year. I don't think I could stand having my chain jerked for 3 years and then having nothing come out. Right now I'm in a very doubting wait-and-see mode. I fully expect to see nothing out of Oddworld for a good long time.

I would like if the movie either had Abe, or the movie had a completely new plot and characters we've never heard of or seen before. It would be more of a shocker and might build up more hype.

No new characters!!! That would be one of the stupidest lorne's move! If he make the AO movie, game will not be forgoten, and selling it's gonna be better. Same with AE MO etc...

I doubt it,but if they do make an Oddworld movie,I want it to include Munch.He's kinda like that thing (I think it's called a mud skipper or something) because he's cute in an ugly sort of way,and you can't help but feel sorry for him.

they can't include munch in the AO movie, he just don't have his place there
and they can't begin with the MO movie for 2 reasons, 1) it is the second chapter of te story and 2) it was a failure and the public will have doubts |
