Logitech G15 Keyboard

Just like many other gamers out there, I am so totaly in love with this keyboard (don't ask how you can fall in love with a piece of hardware, I don't know!). It's just so awsome. I'm thinking of getting it when the price drops, allthough I might just get it in a week or something if I start showing strange behavior :P.

Why this keyboard is so cool? It has 54 programable keys and an LCD display that shows you all kinds of awsome info. Everything from your CPU and power supply to how many bullets you have left in a match of CS. Anyone else thinking of getting it?

I think that is to much for just one simple piece of hardware like keyboard. LCD display? You alredy have monitor (I think). And design is not so good (with that green display looks like an old comodora or something). But it's not everything in look so if you wont it, then buy it.....

This one's coooooler.

But yes. that keyboard is indeed interesting.

Havoc 06-25-2006 05:29 AM

Lol, I have just found an ebay auction. I'm currently highest bidder with E1.50! go me! :D

Wil 06-26-2006 03:30 AM

Oh my goodness, Kimon, that is incredibly cool. I think I clinically need one of those.

Sorry Havoc. :p

Isn't it though?

Photoshop just got easier. :)

Anyways, Havoc, did you get your keyboard? DID YOU?!?!?

Havoc 07-01-2006 02:25 AM

No... was to good to be true :P

I want/need that Optimus keyboard. Although I bet it'd cost a ton.

Havoc 07-05-2006 07:46 AM

Yea I've seen an article on that Optimus keyboard when it was first announced. It's pretty awsome, more awsome then the G15 in some areas. But I think that the buttons being diffrent under diffrent circumstances is a hassle at times. For instance, does it turn back to letters when you're in a game and you want to chat? Or does it remain at the arrows and weapon selection?

Wil 07-09-2006 12:08 PM

I think that would be more the domain of the programmers who take advantage of what the Optimus can provide than the keyboard itself. I'd love an Optimus so I can try Dvorak typing, just for starters.

Havoc 07-09-2006 01:33 PM

When will it be in stores btw? Is there an exact release date? Cuz I'd love to have one, might even suspend my G15 for it and get this one instead. I forgot all about it actualy :p.

Some Wikipedia info.

It has been accused of being vapourware, and I'll most likely never get one, but it really does thrill me. Stupid male gizmophile genes.

Havoc 07-11-2006 01:26 AM

Haha. Yea I read that wiki article just before you posted it. I think the reason it's being marked as vapourware is because it was announced quite a while ago but no further production has started.

I hope it comes into existance though.

Okay so I got the G15 for a cheap price, finaly! The LCD display is cool, does it job like it's supposed to and is already a good asset to my gaming hours. Being able to see your score, kills and deaths without having to 'tab' the game is pretty nice.
When starting out with the keyboard I had hoped the macro's would actualy come in handy though. But it would appear that for games like BF2 they hardly are. I can do an action faster manualy, then when I would program the action into the keyboard and have him do it for me. Not to mention that the buttons just are on the wrong side. For an FPS at least. For RPG's and the like, where constant movement is not always required, it doesn't realy matter. But in and FPS, where you can't afford to lose contact with your keyboard or your mouse when you're in a fight, you instantly notice that the macro keys are in a very anoying position. You can't realy operate most of them without lifting your entire hand, which either paralizes your ability to move, or your ability to turn. Both which are deadly in combat.
Then again, the G15 wasn't designed for FPS's specificaly. So who am I to complain. With a bit of creativity, the keyboard can be a gift that helps you improve all the aspects of gaming. If you can program the macro buttons right, those can be a help too. But you have to do your research into it before you can do so. Which is a big down side, but not one I'm not willing to overlook.

So far I'm glad with it. And I hope I will still be happy with it in a year or two.

Great to hear you've found it a great investment, Havoc.

While we're on the topic of nifty peripherals, I have discovered the Novint Falcon.

Nate 07-27-2006 05:51 AM

Ooh, I was going to mention that one also. Damn cool.

I just can't see it being used any time soon, unfortuneately. That said, being under $100, anything could happen.

Havoc 07-27-2006 12:36 PM

Hm... I doubt that's gonna be used anytime soon. As there are no aplications for it at all. And I don't see the use of a '3D' mouse...

Wil 07-30-2006 04:12 AM

I predict it will have a huge application in the interactive pornography industry. Porn is usually the first industry to put uses to new technologies…
