Get some new red meat, this is played out.

Bill "I'm being investigated by the SEC" Frist, a far right wing republican and early candidate for the presidential nomination, is going to one of the fave plays of Republicans in deep caca: Whip the base in a frenzy with bills targetting gays and flag-burning.
Frist knows that this bills will not pass, they haven't passed the first 20 trillion times righttards have tried to pass them. That isn't the point. The point is to get the Christian conservatives and the stuck-in-the-mud dinosaurs that are their bread and butter to vote against their best interests. Why? 'Cause divorced Republicans told 'em fags might destroy the "Sanctity of Marriage"! Because someone might exercise their 1st amendment rights and set fire to cloth. Oh NOES!
Greenwald does a pretty good job of explaining this crap

Uh...WTF?

Nate 06-07-2006 06:22 AM

Probably best if you had let this one die a quiet death dude...

But anyway, I read an article the other day that Bush was pushing some anti-gay legistlation that he knows will fail, only to try and get some percentage points. True or False?

Statikk HDM 06-07-2006 04:24 PM

Its true, he did a speech about it yesterday.
Last night's The Daily Show ruled.
"So, Rob, what do the gay people needle the barrels for?"
"Gay beer?"

I don't know if this is in the same vein as what Stad has posted, but i saw a programme on C4 a few days back titled 'Gods Army' (or something) which was basically about this college built solely for getting Christians in Government so that a Christian President would eventually get into power and impose his beliefs upon everybody.

Now, i'm all for somebody having a different opinion to me - i even have friends who're JEWISH and a few sexual favour buddies who're far from pure!! But to try and get into power with the knowledge as soon as you do you're going to slap your hands together and say "Right. My rules! My rules!" makes me a little...nauseaus.

I feel sorry for the American Fags. ...and Jews. ...'cos let's face it, since they KILLED God's SON he's been getting back at them ever since (Crusades, Inquisition, Holocaust)!

...but yeh, is anybody else worried about this series of unfortunate events?

Statikk HDM 06-07-2006 08:23 PM

Jacob, that is what has been going on for a while. The Christian Right is a huge part of the Republican party and they win largely because they are a huge bloc of voters that is totally hardcore and always votes. Some churches half the time the sermons are something you'd expect a Republican to use as a stump speech.

I hate shit like this, it makes me want to go and die.

Religion and politics should be separated, you can't allow a bunch of hypocrits blinded by their religion to get into power, just so they can discriminate against innocent people who have supposedly commited terrible, terrible sins.

Jacob 06-08-2006 10:20 AM

It is somewhat worrying. On the documentary (that i only watched 30 minutes of) they were saying how they'd get into power, change America into a "moral country" and then try and change the World to be equally moral.

Now, people often bitch about the fanatical Muslims wanting to take over the World and make everything Islamic law, but surely this is just the same? Okay, maybe a little less worse, but not by much.

Statikk HDM 06-08-2006 02:24 PM

Next up, flag burning. No way am I going to let it be unconstitutional to do a speech plus protest with the U.S. flag. If it passes I'll publically burn flags with others as it goes before the Supreme Court to be struck down. Not that this will ever pass. Ever.

I have to ask. Are you serious? Cause I've seen you say something like this before and I just figured, meh he's joking. But since I've seen you say this kind of thing a couple times I just want to be sure. please respond.

Of course. They're God's chosen people and yet they go and KILL his Son and say "Nyah - i don't believe in you!".

*Tuts*

I mean, seriously!

That didn't help at all. It still seems like it might be a joke. Answer more clearly please.

Lol, I think more of the blame should go towards the Romans. They were the oens who provoked the fight and started the whole mess with Jesus, not the Jews.

Nate 06-08-2006 06:35 PM

Eh, check your history books. The Jews started the fight (what with the High Priest paying Judas in silver and all that jazz) but then they handed him off to the Romans for trial.

Any residual 'Jews killed Jesus' claims were merely propaganda on the part of the gospellers, who were trying to recruit Romans and take revenge on the Jewish (Pharisaic) establishment who had excluded them.

Statikk HDM 06-09-2006 08:19 AM

Well, the Romans were fighting very heavily with the Sicarii and the Zealots but I don't think they killed "God's Son/God". I don't even think Jesus of Nazareth existed.

OANST 06-09-2006 08:58 AM

Well, there is historical proof that there was a man named Jesus who was crucified by the romans. As for the rest of it. Who knows.

Jacob 06-09-2006 11:23 AM

Jesus is Magic. Of course he existed.
