Stranger or Not Stranger

Spoilers ********************

Firstly I want to lash out a few points. This might sound sickly and weird for all those he might not have noticed. I came to consider in SW: How did the steef or stranger keep up his race? Come on he wants to cut off his legs dispite disgracing his own very existance? Could it be that there are none left that he wants to be "normal" ?

Another point is during the opple farm mission. Not matter how many times I play, I dont know the outlaw's names. When you enter the farm and press x a few times hearing him. He says something on lines maybe he can get along with farmer's daughter and does a laughO_0. How strange is that?
He is a steef and the farmer's daughter is a clakker. Maybe I prying to deep into this, but the thought is horrid. Then again is this considered an easter egg? Find them and you get some moolah or something?

I'm not sure exactly what you're getting at, but the Stranger's operation wouldn't necessarily leave him unable to procreate if the opportunity arose. I think he pretty much considers the Steef race doomed, which is why he's so eager to hide his true appearance. It's all about his own self-preservation.

I think you are prying too deep. It's clearly a sick joke - not an egg (pun!). I don't remember this selfspeak line, but it does sound twisted. And… ill-conceived.

Interesting question; interspecies relationships may be unable to procreate, but two creatures may still be able to love and care for one another. Do you think it could happen on Oddworld?

Bullet Magnet 05-28-2006 09:08 AM

Not amoung the industrialists it couldn't. I doubt they could love anything but moolah. Same for outlaws. And the way Clakkerz treat those of other races pretty much puts a stop to that. Only natives could possibly be that way, and that seems unlikely, given the differing environments and cultures. A possible inspiration for a fan fic? I see an Oddworld Romeo and Juliet spoof there.

Ninjaxe 05-29-2006 04:45 AM

ka ka ka! That will be the day Romeo and Julliet.

Yeah, Max, I understand you but it losing the thing that defys what he is. Everytime you see the back two legs. "It a steef" or the ending "its the old steef"
Losing his legs makes him more a 'freak' than ever. Where would he belong if the operation proceeded? Come on he doesnt really fit as a outlaw?

Xavier 05-29-2006 05:27 AM

that's true... he would be totally alone, on an other side news doesn't spread fast on oddworld, and he can claim he is another creature from far away, hence "the Stranger"...

Nate 05-29-2006 05:59 AM

Yeah, he'd be totally alone. But then the guy does seem to like that.

Alone, but safe is all he cared about.

Wil 05-29-2006 08:12 AM

More of a freak in our eyes and maybe in the eyes of other Steef, but at least he'd have the right number of limbs to be accepted in Western Mudos society.

magic9mushroom 05-29-2006 04:28 PM

I think he didn't know if there were other steef and just didn't want to die

Xavier 05-29-2006 11:11 PM

yeah actually there aren't much Steefs alive anymore, so I guess his main concern isn't the way they see him, but is to survive.

Bullet Magnet 06-01-2006 08:43 AM

Perhaps news of his "steefness" did not spread, as I write in my fanfic. I assume that the story goes that Stranger and Castaraider disappeared in the fire of Dusky Hollow, the night the steef rampaged through town. It is unlikely that anyone would put two and two together, and no outlaws survived to tell anyone- I made sure of that.

Xavier 06-01-2006 08:55 AM

that could be the way it all happenend, indeed :)
so Stranger might do his comback if needed to make buisness with clakkerz again, especially since the grubbs keeped most of his clothes

Ninjaxe 06-02-2006 03:56 AM

That is a good point Xav. Brings out a whole different light to the whole side of him. The life of two worlds. One side he is the mad ass bounty hunter that nobody knows. On the other hand he is the hero/protector of the grubbs highly respected. Pretty kewl!!! If Stranger does visit the same towns. But arent they all flooded? But I am sure there are other towns that the clakkers own.

Xavier 06-02-2006 05:53 AM

yeah, I can't believe the destruction of the dam wiped all their towns out
maybe a few but definatly not all of them

Stranger's Girl 06-07-2006 08:59 AM

Agreed. THere had to be towns 'fore Sekto's dam was built, so there are still some towns. (I hope, no, I know)

Patrick Vykkers 07-05-2006 03:49 AM

Of course there were. Most of the towns we saw looked 50-100 years old. Probably from an earlier technological era.

Wil 07-05-2006 03:55 AM

The three towns in which a lot of action takes place are built on the drained river bed, so they must have been founded after Sekto built the dam.
