Civilizations of Oddworld

The civilizations of Oddworld.

Spirrow 05-26-2006 11:10 AM

I haven't played MO or SW yet. Besides New Yolk City
in AE, have they mentioned any new cities in the late games?

Slaveless 05-26-2006 12:43 PM

Please don't double post. Edit, if you will.

No, there wasn't any cities meantioned in Necrum. Abe's story is about saving Mudokons from slavery, not about the cities that the factories trade with. We don't know anything about Mudokon civilizations.

Spirrow 05-26-2006 01:50 PM

Sorry about that mistake. New Yolk city came in MO did not it.
Hmm, I behind video gaming world. Spending more time around
computers learning the history of the world rather than the history of
Oddworld.

The Marching Mudokon 05-26-2006 10:28 PM

I'm pretty sure New Yolk City was from Strangers Wrath. I might be wrong though.

Nate 05-26-2006 11:38 PM

It was.

The Abe game occured in the wilds of Mudos. MO moved more into the industrial heartland but we still did not see any cities. SW showed us some of the towns in Western Mudos but I still don't think we have seen any true cities.

Xavier 05-27-2006 09:40 AM

yolk was a joke related to the Clakkerz, so it wasn't in MO but in SW

Munch's Master 05-28-2006 12:11 PM

I was like WTF when I first saw the first post, but then I understood it. An industrial city that supposedly exists is Nolybab and within it is something that may be called Uguaya State. Or Nolybab may be part of Uguaya State. But Uguaya State could also be callled Uguayis Dei, its been interpreted many different ways. Anyway, Nolybab is supposedly the central nervous system of the Magog Cartel if you will, it is supposedly where Maggie and Skillya are found, and houses some form of Courthouse. Key word is supposedly, I've learnt this stuff in a topic on here and I'm not certain how much is definite fact and how much is assumption.

Abe 01 05-28-2006 12:59 PM

ive always wanted to see a mudokon little town

Xavier 05-28-2006 09:57 PM

there is a very small one in MO
at the begining of Dead River

Bullet Magnet 05-29-2006 03:30 AM

Yeah, Nolybab (Babylon!) is probably the Glukkon capital. Lady Margaret, aka Queen Maggie, resides in the Hall of Larvae.

Good anagram detection skills Bullet Magnet, I see you are smart.
On the topic of cities, I think there is more than one capital- I mean look at Earth, Australia is the only country with a continent all to itself (and I'm in Aus yay)

especially when it as found out months ago ;)

Aren't there suppost to be little cities in Mudanchee and Mudomo? I might be wrong I dunno...

Wil 06-08-2006 03:57 AM

They're tribes; it stands to reason they had settlements, because I don't think Mudokons are a nomadic culture, generally. We don't know anything about the settlements, though. They could have been mere villages or cities with the architectural grace of other Mudokon facilities.

Spirrow 06-08-2006 05:04 AM

At some point you'd still think mudokons are in the stone
age. But if we were to go back a thousand years or
so and match up times with the muds, I'd say they were
well ahead of us.

Jordan 06-08-2006 10:40 PM

There must be a little Mudokon village on Oddworld somewhere, we may not find out for years because Lorne aint friggin' making games no more!!

Mudoko_Jedi 06-09-2006 01:18 AM

of course theres mud villages not one little one god you see a little tini one one the start at splinterz

Xavier 06-09-2006 01:55 AM

Spirrow 06-09-2006 02:42 AM

Ah, that's a neat mudokon village. It even has watchtowers.
Is see they do use Elum as horse creatures to move
around quickly.

Maybe it's because of the fact that the Oddworld enviorment
was rendered on a computer and the designers want a beautiful
picture and such, but I believe the wilderness of Oddworld is more
lively and colorful than Earth wilderness in some cases.

Monsaic lines.

there is complete evidence of tribes in AO and AE. the. scrabania and paramonia temples had remains of mudokon civilizations. It stands to reason that we don't auctually see any active mudokon towns (AO and AE) because of most of the two games taking place outside a glukkon factory, where mudokons would be held as slaves

Spirrow 06-10-2006 03:02 AM

I can see why Scrabania does not appear to be half as
populated by mudokons. It's a blistering desert where
you won't find all the forest necessary for building
tall structures as in Paramonia. In that case they would
just mine into the stone to create their homes.

Actually, Necrum in a whole was an enitre land inhabited by living, breathing Mudokons. Thye lived in those Tower of Pisa like structures that you see throughout the background. Because of all the sewage coming in from large industrial settlements and facilities, the Mudokons were forced form their home. That's also how the large Fleech population came to be.

Thankyou, Xavier, you saved me a big "AHEM" ;)

Wil 06-11-2006 01:48 AM

Monsaic Lines are holy caves. I wouldn't call it a city any more than I'd call a monastery or convent a city, but granted it's doubtless a place where many Mudokons live.

Buildings in Scrabania are made of carved stone and adobe. In addition, Mudokons here used to be able to create steel, which is pretty impressive. Passages are also carved through cacti, and animal skins are used for wells and wind devices.

Mudoko_Jedi 06-11-2006 03:55 PM

What about last legs thats a city but for grubs.
