What games are worth getting for the DS?
The DS Lite comes out in Oz in 9 days and I'm considering purchasing one when they eventually get around to giving us the blue one (they're only planning on selling white ATM).
So my question is, what games are the must-have items for this console and why? EDIT: Dammit, I left the question mark off the end of the title. That's gonna bug me every time I look at this thread. |
I don't own a DS so I have no real idea. But I hear Nintendogs is quite good, even though it was aimed at girls everyone seems to like it.
What kinda games do you usually buy? |
Nintendogs is ok....but you'll probably get bored of it eventually.
Sonic Rush is good if you liked the GBA Sonic games, but it has some fiddly level design. Advance Wars DS is digital (insert something addictive here), as long as you enjoy Turn Based Strategy. Mario Kart has some amazing multiplayer, but Splat actually owns the game, so you'll have to ask him about singleplayer modes. Unfortunateley, I've got my exams over the next few weeks, so that is about the limit of my list of playable DS games. I hope this helps, and I'll possibly have a review of Metroid Prime Hunters around the 14th of June. |
Okay, you're going to have to tell me why the games are good; not just list which ones you like.
|
Mario Kart DS is the best I think. But you could take up the essential favourite in japan. Pokemon Emerald. :)
|
I've heard good things of Nintendogs, but I'm afraid I don't actually own a DS.
You should give Souper Munch a PM. He's all about his DS. |
Don't get Nintendogs is my only suggestion. It's extremely short lived. Electroplankton is a goodun.
Also, I don't know the price difference, but the origional DS might be better to go for. |
I've heard of Electroplankton and everyone says it's something wierd and new but I don't understand what it is. Can you describe it?
The price difference is only about $20 so I'd prefer the new one. |

Deep Labyrinth may be something to look out for, too. |
My 2 main suggestions are MarioKart DS and Metroid Prime Hunters for the multiplayer. MarioKart DS is extremely addicting, you get to play tracks from the SNES original game, and online wireless multiplayer is awesome. Well, it depends if you're a fan of Mariokart. The thing that makes Metroid Prime good is the Wi-Fi play. There's about nine bounty hunters you can play(no player customisation) and they have different morph ball forms and blasters. Even though the game overall doesn't live up to the anticipation, it's worth bying for some portable Metroid FPS action and Wi-FI play. Wario ware touched is also a nice little gem that makes pretty good use of the stylus. That's basically my opion on the games that are pretty good.

Resident Evil
New Super Mario Bros And Tetris DS. All have the same nostalgic effect. |
yes, New Super Mario Bros.
The feel of getting the mega mushroom...there's nothing like it Mario Kart DS is a must. You get to play select tracks from EVERY other Mario Kart game, SNES, N64, GCN, and GBA. Plus a great selection of new tracks. It's the cat's meow. And I personally like riding on a giant DS in Battle mode. |
*New Super Mario Bros.--I've always liked the idea of a 3D SMB game. The Giant Mushroom is great fun! :D
*Super Mario 64 DS--It's a puzzle/collecting things game. Think of Donkey Kong 64, but with Mario. *Nintendogs--Gets old quick, but pretty cute! *Mario Kart DS--You play most of the classic Nintendo Mario characters, and choose from different machines and race on cool tracks and set traps! :P All the good ones I have played (Poke'mon Trozei is freaky!) There's a rumor of a Silent Hill DS game, but it sounds like an awkward design. |

Trauma Center: Under the Knife!!
|
oh yeah animal crossing is fun if you keep at it daily
|
Animal Crossing, like Nintendogs, is only good if you commit to it. I find that I'm a lazy assed gamer, so I didn't really get the full fun out of them.
|
i just got a DS lite a couple days ago. came with New Super Mario bros. I also wanna get Super Mario 64 DS, Phantom hourglass, and hunters, to name a few. Oh, and Wario Ware: touched
