Sprites please, if possible
I wasn't sure where to post this, but I thought here was most suitable.
Does anyone know where I can get/find Oddworld AO/AE sprites? because they're clearly sprites, being 2D, and I was wondering if they were available anywhere, or if at least there's a place where I can get PS1 emulator/ROM with which to get some. If anyone knows, or has any vague ideas, please post them here. I suppose any answers given here may be helpful for some other people, too. I hope so. |
Grrr...
Please? Someone? And if they're not available, tell me at least for crying out loud.
|
Well I don't think they're available but I'm not going to say that they are absolutely not unless I know for sure. Which I don't. And I assume no-one else is prepared to put their money where their mouths are either.

Damn. I was hoping there was something. I think someone got some screenshot bits in their sig, at least...
|
I don't think they're sprites. I think they're little model thingys.
|
I meant for the old games, their sprites. They're 2D and never look different from a slightly different angle or anything. And they're 100% 2D format. I have no idea why anyone would use models that don't really look 3D in the same sense on a 2D format.

The only sprites I know of for the Oddworld games are the ones you can get off the Oddworld site (if you look at the Oddworld Universe section it has some animated gifs for some of the species), but they're not what you would call a complete set. It's probably possible to get them from the game with a bit of work, though... I might have a go myself if I find the time.
Just curious, why do you want them? |
Maybe you should ask at Picture Request in General Discussion. If there are pictures of sprites, Xavier would know about them.
EDIT: Hmm, no Picture Request thread anymore? Then you should ask Xav himself via PM. |

Oh, I see, you're a custom spriter, eh? :p Well, I think it would be possible to get them from the PC game but it would take a lot of work what with cutting out the backgrounds and stuff. Thankfully there is a way to do it without having to tediously take screenshots, though, there's software available that will automatically take a screen shot if the screen changes. So the trick would be to do it somewhere where there's nothing but the actual sprite moving.
But yeah... I'd give it a go myself, but I don't really think I have time to go cutting backgrounds out of a whole bunch of screenshots. :p |
I've seen a sheet of Abe sprites, I can't remember where. I'll have a search and get back to you.

Actually, ripping sprites from the game via reverse engineering is highly illegal. Just check the terms and conditions at the back of the manual.
...Yep, I've read those things cover to cover. |
