Obstacle courses in Abe's Oddysee

The game has some tricky parts. But they can be sorted
here...

Cyber-Slig 05-09-2006 09:18 AM

What the?

Spirrow 05-09-2006 09:29 AM

Bees in Paramonia

In some screens in AO ( in the wild) there is a blob of honey on the ground.
Therefore if you have Elum with you he will go to it and start
slurping. Don't even bother making Abe coverse with him: " Hello,
follow me, or wait, etc...". Abe needs a plan to pull Elum back to
reality. Most FAQs say walking up to the bees nest and getting
worked up and attacking Elum. I think the original idea was to throw a
rock at the hive. It will appear to fall on Elum's head and that will
make the bees want revenge. You don't have to risk getting yourself
killed either. Bees will instantly go for Elum.

Chant to advance

Chant to delay scrabs and paramites. This gives you a split second
run from them. No need to try this with slogs.

Mojo 05-09-2006 10:59 AM

Umm, is this supposed to be a tips-thread? If so, I don't think it would be needed.

If people think we do need this, tell me, if not, I'm gonna close this thread in a day, for it has obviously no reason to stay.

Havoc 05-09-2006 03:05 PM

The guys intensions are good, but I can't help snickering.

Mojo 05-10-2006 12:01 AM

Yah, I know, but the topic's pointless...

Zerox 05-10-2006 01:54 AM

It depends really on whether you're experinced at this game or not, or whether you're new to the gaming formula represented here.
Also, I think if you chant at just the right moment, you can make a Scrab fall of a cliff. You have to time it just right. I haven't been able to yet, but I haven't really been that bothered about it. May be useful for someone else, though.
Whoever wrote that walkthrough saying that you don't throw a rock at the hive is a moron. Seriously, that WAS pretty obvious.

Gretin 05-10-2006 02:43 AM

Haha, yeah, I've done that before (made the Scrab fall of a cliff). I did it completely by accident too. It was so funny :D I don't know how to get the timing just right, I just sometimes manage to do it.
As for this topic... Meh, I don't know.

skillya_glowi 05-10-2006 10:48 AM

Oo I love doing that! Also in the scrab nest I liked making it so that the scrab would be stranded on the little island with the lever, and then hanging myself down from the platform and when the scrab would try to eat me then it would get squashed --- in midair!

Everyone’s right, I guess, the topic is pretty pointless, however, you can bend it a little to make people like it more. Like add a poll or something, though I have no idea what it would be about.

Hello glitch: say hello and the Slig walks off the cliff!
Pls pin this thread AlphaScrab don't delete it as it is a good resource for newbs

Gretin 05-10-2006 10:20 PM

Oh, I remember that one; The second slig you see at Rupture Farms, right? If not, well, that one does it too :p Pity it doesn't always work....

Mojo 05-11-2006 03:56 AM

Okay, I'm gonna make a compromise here, I'll keep the topic open, but I won't make a sticky out of it.

Mine doesn't just work on hello. I have to say a whoole bunch of stuff.

Another really time-saving glitch (though can be a huge pain in the *** if done improperly): In Monsaic lines with the whistling Native Mudokons. Something I have noticed is that the whistling Mudokons can't whistle and use their weapons at the same time. So with great care and timing, you can roll past the Mudokon without getting shot. Is that a cool glitch or what?

It is most useful in the second secret area in the Stockyard Escape where there is an otherwise invincible slig who you can get past once easily but the second time...it is really hard to get out

Gretin 05-19-2006 02:26 PM

Oh yeah, I remember that one. I never tried the glitch there, but I remember the secret.

Heh, there's another one with the whistling mudokons. I can't remember exactly where it is, but one of them (might be the third one) you can actually jump from a higher up ledge and land behind him. Then when he fires you don't get hit because he's looking the wrong way! :D I might post a screenshot if I can find it again...

I think that this cool and see how I can avoid whilsting, but I don't see it as a glitch. More of loophole. Glitch is a flaw in programming. Loophole is when you escape following rules what the people intended for what you to do.

Probably you're right. Oops

Yeah, that's what I used to do before I found the whistling LOOPHOLE. It was the second one :D

E'l Scrabino 06-20-2006 01:32 AM

I found a funny thing to do on AE. In the first level, when a Slig comes close to you in the shadows, you can slap him! Also, in one of the levels where you're one a ledge and have to turn the wheel to make the Glukkon appear, you can jump down and slap him to! Awesome fun that is...

E'l Scrabino over and/or out....

Spirrow 06-20-2006 12:04 PM

Yeah, that's pretty cool.
