How many tries did it take you to beat the Gloktogis?

I found that the two Gloktogis (Sekto's 2 Bodyguards) are the hardest boss in the game. How many tries did it take you to beat the pair? Did you have to resort to using a walkthrough? Or did you figure it out all by yourself?

Cullen Heath 04-22-2006 10:29 PM

It's not very hard. I never used a guide for Strangr's Wrath at all.
I beat them and Sekto in my first or second try, can't remembr exactly, though.

Xavier 04-23-2006 12:14 AM

first try...but now I seem a bit rusty and have to do at least 2 times to get them

and no guide for me ;)

Matriar 04-23-2006 02:19 AM

It wasn't too hard for me.
I just pounded them non-stop :p even if they beat me. When I fired at them enough, they disappeared for a short time. Then I could heal myself, before I continued with spanking

The gloktigis are my favourite bosses :D :D :D

Havoc 04-23-2006 03:23 AM

It took me about 5 tries I think. The first four where I was trying to be strategic, and the fifth time I just pounded them with everything I had. That seemed to work :).

mrsmr2 04-23-2006 03:41 AM

Strangely, I beat them the first time I got to them.

However, I played the last boss battle a few times since and have found them much harder.

Bullet Magnet 04-23-2006 03:52 AM

I never use walkthroughs, except once for an open-ended sandbox game.

I think I beat the armoured Gloktigi at the end in one go, but the first time I met one, I yelled at the screen "OMFG! It's actually a Gloktigi!" recognising it from the Oddworld art book as a concept dropped from MO. I blew up the bonepowder kegs as it came past to kill it, but stood too close. And the second one span me into a fan. He then joined me in my ground-up glory.

Dark Elite_H2 04-23-2006 07:48 AM

Well, when I first went against Sekto, it took me...one try? to beat the Gloki's.
But then, it took me maybe two-three times to beat Sekto, 'cause I didn't realize the two stone blocks that could be used as a barricade...:fuzemb:

Sekto Springs 04-23-2006 08:52 AM

Maybe one try. I took advantage of instant ramming speed. Just keep them relatively close together and then dart to the opposite end of the room when they get close.

It took me a lot longer to defeat Sekto. I died many times. Then I spotted the barricades and got him next time.

Wil 04-23-2006 01:52 PM

I handled the Gloktigi just fine once I'd learned to run to either side instead of standing my ground in the middle, but I wasn't smrt enough to figure out the falling masonry protected me from Sekto's weapon (what the hell was that meant to be, by the way?).

Cullen Heath 04-23-2006 02:23 PM

I don't know why most of you had problems with finding that out. I knew right away that the cement/ ceiling pieces were there to protect you.

Sekto Springs 04-23-2006 02:28 PM

Yes, Cullen. We already know you're the greatest individual in existance.

The only problem I had was the bookshelves getting in my way. Those were bastards.

Matriar 04-24-2006 01:46 AM

I used the bookshelves as protection against the Gloktigis, when they made this kind of a pirouette to shackle me with their nets, untill the bookshelves were brocken...
Then it becames blithe :D

Alcar 04-24-2006 06:34 AM

I believe it took me two tries. Failed on the first, succeded on the second.

Alcar...

HobbitNinj 04-24-2006 08:33 AM

Hardest...Boss Battle... Ever. Sekto was easy, but those Gloktogis kicked my a$$. Had to use an online guide and 10-12 tries.

OANST 04-24-2006 09:17 AM

Took me a few tries. Once I figured out that switching back to first person when they are pummeling you can get you out of their grasp it was like cake. A chunky, gory, bloody, disgusting cake.

Bullet Magnet 04-25-2006 10:08 AM

It's the spinning that gets you. Curse it! Surely Taz can file a lawsuit against that?

He should sue Crash Bandicoot while he's at it.

ODDREN 04-26-2006 01:45 AM

think it's the hardiest moment in all game...it took me from 5 to 8 tries to knock'em out...Sekto is a fly comparing with theese Glocks: and by size, and by fight..

Seargentbig 04-26-2006 02:53 AM

I think it took two or three, perhaps four tries for me to get them. They weren't too hard, but the fact that there were two did make it a bit more difficult. I think I just did what Max did, running to one side, shooting them until they got to me, and then running to the other.
BTW, the faling masonry is supposed to be part of the dam because it's about to collapse entirely, isn't it?

Ninjaxe 04-26-2006 05:18 AM

It took me two or three times. But I have to admit..I spent off the time running about while the Glocks were wrecking the sekto's office. They where alot harder. When you going to office I like using the environments to destroy them. Electricity from the lockers. I am proud to say I got one in the spinning fans once. It feels good to see a glock getting choppping up into pieces and I have fell in myself trying to do it again.

SeaRex 04-26-2006 06:53 AM

On my first time through the game, I bet them on my first try with little to no trouble.

On my second time around, it took me like... two or three. I just remember thinking... "Were these guys always this hard?!". It turns out I was just using a different (and lamer) strategy, because I was playing less cautiously in my second playthrough.

mrsmr2 05-20-2006 03:04 AM

Just played through the game again and they are by far the hardest part of the game. Took me four attempts this time, the first three I let them get too close and watched as they both pummelled me to death - that was really annoying as I didn't get a chance to escape during the pummelling.

Sekto is ridiculously easy after that.

Still my favourite game on the XBOX:fuzsmile:

nicksmith41 06-17-2006 10:16 PM

Those guys PWN'd me so badly i died on the inside, if they get you with thier spinning thing your dead u cant escape from it, because by the time Stranger gets back up they spin at you again, very frustrating when as soon as i stood up and got did the forward charge away, you know how he like gets ready to charge for like half a second, (like winding up for a big punch) they get me, i pissed me off so much i threw the controler on the ground and walked away, then i killed them after the 3rd try and did a little dance :D

If they get to you, and start shunning you with the spins, switch into First Person, and get out Super Stingbees and Riotslugs or Boombat Seekers. Then just shoot them like mad, and soon they will go into the Ghost form, and flee back to the other side of the room.

Just a question. What did all of you use to shoot at Sekto's Generator? I used Super Stingbees and Riotslugs.

Mudoko_Jedi 06-18-2006 04:07 AM

I used them first and then pumped with zappflies.

It took me ages to beat the gloks but a couple of times to beat sekto.

Bullet Magnet 06-18-2006 05:13 AM

Unload boombat seekers on them, then equip riotslugs and stingbees- one of the best combos in the game. Using riotslugs against Sekto, I like to get up close, but then I realised that the electricity kills you. Stingbees are always your savior at the end.

ANGRY ELEPHANT 07-12-2006 12:14 PM

I used invincibility. Can you guess how many tries it took me?
