What's up with that?
Has anyone ever noticed, that in the group picture for SW, there is a slog in the front? The slog didn't appear in SW, but its cousin, the sleg. What's up with that?If they made this before the game was fully developed, couldn't they just edit out the slog?
|
In the game, the Wolvarks that carried the Slegs on their back and let them loose on you were originally supposed to carry Slogs, but I guess OWI got lazy... again. You can see said snickering Wolvark holding the slog with a very crudely-drawn leash.
And please save questions like this for the Oddworld Question and Answer thread. |
Got it...
Sorry 'bout that, folks |
It just reminded me that it was still Oddworld. But the Wolvark with the slegs shows up as "Slog handler" in the bounty screen in the game.
|
That picture is terrible. It almost looks like some nob cut out pictures from various magazines and pasted them to a backboard. The art consists of actual real-time models, Silvio's crappy drawings, and angular in-game models. It's not even blended well.
I'm not impressed, guys. |
Sorry but I can't see any in game models in there:
http://www.oddworld.com/games/osw/images/OSW_lineup.jpg Edit: oh yes there are some that have been photoshopped. still this is more a cart for the size more then a piece of art on his own |
Yes, but comparing it to the charts from the other games, this one looks god awful. I could pick it apart if you like, I'd rather not though.
|
Holy crap! The Grubbs are taller than I am!
|
Yeah! and as for the others, its is scientificly proven that a humanoid biped over 12 feet tall could not evolve in Earth like gravity, as if it fell over its weight and acceleration from such a hight would cause serious injuries. Now, Oddworld is ten times the size of Earth... I should post that in the Q and A. Oddworld's Gravitational Anomaly.
Oh, wait, that scale isn't to scale- um... It's just for show. Phew. |
Those height charts are constantly changing, I don't consider Molluck to be nine feet tall, especially if Abe is approximately 5' 8". His head would be touching the ceiling in AO's ending.
|
I think the average heaght for a glukkon is 7 ft, if I recall correctly.
|
Likely, but according to the chart Molluck is nine feet tall. I could see him being seven or six and a half if you consider Abe's height. But Nine? No way.
|
I think it used to be a black back dropped and they just photoshopped a chart in at the back.
Correct me if i'm wrong, it could be the other way around? |
No, they have all the characters on a seperate layer, they can do whatever they want with the image. The put in a chart to match the other games.
|
If you take a closer look at all the charts with slogs in it you'll see it's the same image but enlarged or shrunk to make it look different, or to fit in in with the character behind it. so you couldn't really say the 'scale' chart is to scale
|
I know, I have been saying it isn't to scale. :dodgy:
|
ever noticed that in the AO chart the slig has two eyes? o.O
I know it's a small detail but it still is one. |
There is no AO scale chart, I just flicked through the manual and couldn't find one. Or do you mean an online one, eg. at Oddworld.com?
|
The AO slig had a visor. It became a two-eyed mask in AE but the walking slig in-game sprite remained the same.

Is the 5'8'' when he stands normal, or if you stretch him out? That posture is awful.

What surprises me the most about the height charts is that they don't use the height chart background that was used in Abe Oddysee:
http://oddworldlibrary.net/togg/inde...=RAAO0011.jpg1 It was neat. |
