My Stuffs [Not 56k Friendly]

Seeing as this is the only section of the forum I havn't posted in yet, I thought I'd make use of it :). I'm not going to post things I've done before now because that'd be rather pointless :). For that just take a look at my DeviantART page, which is...

*drum roll*

http://godlesswanderer.deviantart.com/

Anyway, onto the stuff I've done recently.

*copy and paste from my forum :)*

A couple days ago (actually, last night), I got Zbrush 2. For people that have no idea what it is, think of it as digital clay. It's like an average 3D program, but instead of using individual polygons to create an object in ZBrush you literally sculpt it. People that are good at clay sculpting are usually very good at ZBrush.

Aaaaaanyway, since I've only just got it I can barely do the basics. So far I can make basic heads with basic levels of detail. Here's a head I'm working on at the moment. I'm kinda going for the evil look ^_^.

Back View (Just so I can show off the neck bone bit :D):

So... what do you think? Any critiques? :)

I'll be adding to this every now and then, so stay tuned :D. I've always wanted to say that ^_^.

Jarrardo 03-28-2006 05:05 AM

This is very cool. MORE! :)

Godlesswanderer 03-28-2006 06:27 AM

Thanks :D.

Here's a quick update. I havn't changed much so far, just the shape of the eyes... and something else I can't remember.

Nice work. The eyes on the second set of pictures got better, in my opinion.

Any ideas for your next project? Or will you update the current ones?

Oddish 03-28-2006 08:49 AM

Whoa, inpressive. I did not you know you were this good, especially with understanding heads anatomy and 3D modeling. Would it kill if you could show a 3/4 view, like a 3D angel.

Good stuff!

I havn't really got any idea for a next project. At the moment I'm just trying to get used to ZBrush. For now I'm probably going to keep trying to improve this head until I reckon I'm done with it :).

I'm not sure what you mean by 3D angel but for a 3/4 view there's one here. If it was a 3/4 back view you wanted, tell me and I'll show you one :).

Oddish 03-29-2006 10:22 AM

I know what that head reminds me of, Fangus head concepts.

Sorry, I ment view. But I ment the same thing as a 3/4 view anyway ;)

So will you be adding render and textures prehaps? Or even eyeballs.

Abeguy 03-29-2006 10:27 AM

where d'you get Z brush?
And Great Job Godlesswanderer!!! More please

Yeah it does kinda seem similar to the fangus head concepts (I had to look them up :)).

I don't be doing anything more for now, well not yet anyway. Yesterday I lost the pen to my Wacom tablet and my mouse is all jumpy so if I try to do anything to the head model or anything else using the mouse it'll come out quite badly.

Now... if only I knew where I put down the pen...

Dipstikk 03-30-2006 12:22 AM

Very, very nice! I can't wait to see the finished product.

Godlesswanderer 03-30-2006 12:37 AM

Thanks :).

Zbrush is really messing with my head. Whenever I use ZBrush, whatever tool I'm using I have the x symmetry feature turned on. So whatever I do to the model and wherever I do it, it's mirrored on the other side. Well now, when I'm not using ZBrush, I keep thinking things I do (in Photoshop or whatever) will happen on the opposite side of whatever it is .

It's addicting too, I'm getting withdrawls from not using it :D. It's affecting my typing, I swear. I'm spelling (I just typed it as alepping ) almost everything wrong.

Godlesswanderer 03-30-2006 11:51 PM

Until I manage to find my tablet pen, this'll have to do for now. I imported the ZBrush tool (the head) into 3DS MAX and rendered the wireframe. It would have taken aaaaages to import and render the high quality wireframe image (it would have been over 1 million polys) so I've rendered a low poly version (about 6000 polys) of the wireframe.

I've just realised it's quite an awkward angle for the wireframes. If anyone wants any other views, just say so and I'll render one for you.

This is so awesome stuff man! I adore and love yer work:D:D

Godlesswanderer 03-31-2006 12:19 AM

Thanks :).

The wireframe picture I just posted doesn't really show the wireframe too well so I've changed it to a one sided wireframe and rendered a front view.

Godlesswanderer 04-01-2006 03:45 AM

Been playing around with 3DS MAX for a bit since I can't do anything with ZBrush without the pen for my graphics tablet.

I tried out a couple animations, just some really basic stuff. A bouncing ball for one of them and a moving ball for another.

Now, if only I could find a filehost that lets me host .mov files.

Great! I can't believe I missed this thread. Very good on the anatomy like Oddish said.

Matriar 04-01-2006 06:21 AM

I agree with all peoples here, who likes your stuff ;) It's very interesting! I'm looking forward for more!

Godlesswanderer 04-03-2006 12:57 AM

I managed to find a place to uplaod the two animations. They're nothing special, I was just trying a couple things out, seeing how the rendering handles lights and shadows.

http://www.savefile.com/projects.php?pid=496087

I'm not sure why they're so big, they're only a couple of seconds long.

Godlesswanderer 04-05-2006 05:30 AM

New stuff I did while sitting in front of the computer in the while being surrounded by a mound of my used tissues...

It's not what you think... I have a cold!

Dancing Steef 04-05-2006 05:39 AM

Those are so cool Godlesswanderer! I don't understand how you can manage doing those creatures - isn't that hard to do all the details? It seems to be, well...

Great work!:D

Godlesswanderer 04-05-2006 08:02 AM

If I was using a generic 3D program it would be really hard. But since I'm using Zbrush, as long as you know the basic stuff, it's quite really easy.

Advertising! BAN KARL!

Wired 04-16-2006 05:50 AM

Wow, very impressive Karl. I love the Springback heart thing I saw in your forums. I couldn't be bothered to register but I thought I'd post a link here to it to help you out :kissy:.

Godlesswanderer 04-22-2006 07:05 PM

O...k... I'm a little worred about the kissy smiley...

Aaaaanyway, I've made 2 more things recently. Both using Zbrush and both rendered in 3D Studio Max.

Earlier today I tried to see if I could sculpt a head from a basic sphere in Zbrush.

I've been working on it for about an hour and here's what I have so far,

http://img207.imageshack.us/img207/4194/wip16cz.jpg
http://www.deviantart.com/view/32286256/

Before anyone says about the ears, I know they're wonky. Just bear with me, ok? :)

Godlesswanderer 04-26-2006 11:05 AM

This is something else I'm working on at the moment as a more detailed model. With this one I'm going more accurate with muscles and stuff. As you might be able to tell with the neck.

http://img241.imageshack.us/img241/3285/wip13yp.jpg

So that'll be a total of 3 projects I've got going at once .

Edit:

Whoops, I forgot the back view.

Leto 04-26-2006 04:13 PM

Woah, you're doing great with ZBrushing things, the nose and ears on sphereman especially.

Godlesswanderer 04-27-2006 11:49 AM

Here's an update on the Alien Guy.

I've done it as an animated GIF, it's easier and rapes less bandwidth :).

Thanks :). I'd like to say I've been getting better at doing noses and ears but I'd be lying. Those are only that good by chance :).

Godlesswanderer 04-30-2006 02:11 PM

I got bored so I made a skin material and applied it to the model. It's a human skin so it won't be applied to the model.

http://img263.imageshack.us/img263/3795/wip2skin1ze.jpg

Just trying it out, it definately won't be a part of the final model :).

Leto 05-03-2006 10:26 PM

That works fine, just tint it more towards grey than coloured.
