Paramite and Scrab ...

I don’t know about you … but I don’t see eyes on Paramites or Scrabs … can some one help me out?

ZakoGrunt 03-19-2006 07:07 PM

Neither Paramites or Scrabs have eyes, at least to my knowledge.

Biggy Bro Slig 03-19-2006 10:25 PM

No, they don't. I think they feel their way around.

Or maybe smell or hear , scrabs and paramites are very accute creatures.

oddveteran93 03-19-2006 11:33 PM

Yes, they are. They probably have a lot of extrta senses.

there have been countless theories on those eye-less creatures and I think about everything has been metionned:
hear, smell, feel trough the ground (but are confused when you are invisible???)
sonar
have a sense we don't know

and so on

I think Paramites use scent (In AO you hear all that snuffling sound in Paramonian Temple, and I think Scrabs use Sonar (maybe that's one of the reasons they're always howling). About the invisibility, remember it's magic here, so maybe it conceals more than just visual. Perhaps, coming from a ghost trap, it turns you into a ghost? Just a theory. :)

Biggy Bro Slig 03-20-2006 08:31 AM

Maybe it's like Daredevil!

Abe 01 03-20-2006 08:32 AM

But if you sneaked on to the next screen on an Abe game and a paramite was there how does it know your there if your sneaking?

Biggy Bro Slig 03-20-2006 09:03 AM

It hears you. You know that annoying sqeeky sound...

Munch's Master 03-20-2006 09:36 AM

Also they probably have very sensitive feet, so can sense the tiny vibrations through the ground that Abe makes with each step. I'd guess that the invisibility traps also conceal smell and possibly sound, as due to his work in Rupture Fram, Abe would probably be smelt from the blood and factory fumes regardless of inivisibility. I'd imagine that Paramites/Scrabs therefore have very acute hearing, smell and touch, or may be able to 'taste' the air for scents. Also Slogs/Slegs have no eyes either, so a similar system probably works for them. Same with Fleeches. God, how many Oddworld animals have no eyes?

Slaveless 03-20-2006 11:25 AM

In my theory, all creatures are seen through special molecules. The creatures can see with a sense in them that senses those molecules. With that being said, the invisiblity power shadows those mulecules, so the animals can't see you. That's just my theory.

SLIG_ODD 03-20-2006 11:54 AM

thanks for all your theorys ... i'll just come up with my own and ... idk ... do somthing ... anyway ... i thought it was a kool idea to talking about ... eyes ... lol ... who needs 'em

metroixer 03-20-2006 12:21 PM

I'd like to use the idea of echo location for scrabs. Like they here a sound and they examine the sound and such, and find out where it comes from. Enemy or prey? :)

Well invisibility was a nice feature added to the game so it would make some parts easier. So maybe the producers assumed that paramites have eyes otherwise they probably would've felt abe running past them. Unless you consider the fact that the invisibility is caused by a spirit. So the spirit can like blind all the paramite's senses maybe? I dunno, just a few theories.

I think that the people at OWI were aware of Paramites not having eyes, since they are the ones who designed the game...
