Slig's mask
What's mainly the difference between the slig's mask model of AO and AE???And which you prefer??
I've always liked the AO slig mask- something about the AE one looks too emphatic- I don't neccessarily think that having the player feel *sympathy* for the Sligs is the best move. Also, I thought it looked cooler.
I liked the first one, (AO?). I wrote it down like that in my Fanfics. But there is something about the second I like.
I prefer the second one. It seems more natural to me, designwise.
I prefer the first. It seems much more robotic, cold and impersonal. The true threat and menace of the enemy was a major contribution to that atmosphere of Abe's Oddysee I love.
I like the second one more. It looks cooler :D.
I say the second one :D.
I seem to like the first mask, the visor type one, better. I think it made the Sligs more menacing to the player which fits in to the style of the game, but the eye mask one is, well, too cartoony in my case. I wish that they brought back the old mask in MO, but that game was supposed to be cartoony, so... oh well.

I like the mask with the slit better than the eye one … it just looks like it should go with the character … but in the video clips … and correct me if I’m wrong … don’t all Sligs have the eye mask? And during the game … in game play on both A.O. and A.E. … don’t they have the mask with the slit? The only Slig that doesn't have the slit mask is the flaying Slig as far as I’m concerned

May I ask where you got those slig non-animated/animated sprites from? :)?

The visor ones feel menacing and cold , therefor emphasising a sligs personality blah blah blah . I like the first ones cause they look cool.
the first one, all the way... I prefer the sligs cold, stupid and shooting as freaks
the eyes mask were to beter show some facial expression, I'm not sure Sligs need that |
I knew it ... Sligs do look different in the video clips then in game play ... :D

I liked the roles Sligs play in Abe's Exoddus, but I don't feel the new masks contributed much to that. They're still static, stolid shapes, they just make the Sligs look bug-eyed and childish instead of singularly focused on weapons - kind of like ferill.
I don't have any complaints about the goggles on Flying Sligs, though. Being WW2-styled, it seems appropriate, but I havn't seen a Flying Slig with a visor - it might look silly. |
It kinda makes the sligs look more dangrous. It has them looking with an 'angry stare' now rather then the dull 'nuteral' look they had with the visor.
And I think a big part of it was that they figured that sligs do more then just guard and use guns. So they had to adjust the mask to that. The valet, MOM announcer and glukkon assistants for instants don't need to be focused on guns and such. |

...I never noticed there were two kinds.
The visor does look "cooler" in a dark, 'I'm gonna shoot you in the back' way. |
I think I'll go for the visor mask, it gives the Slig more of a mysterious solid heartless look, and it makes them appear less cute and innocent. I also like the flying sligs mask, big creep red eyes flying around in the dark.
I like both of the sligs' masks but I strongly prefer the visor mask. I hope they bring the visor mask back for future games.
Both are cool. The visor seems more like what a security guard would have, and looks mroe robotic, less lifelike. The bug-eye mask, as I call it, was the first I saw (The first Oddworld game I played was AE, then AO.), and seems more like it gives the wearer an identity, and reeminds me of WW2 fighter pilot goggles. In my fic(s), I have the Sligs as a mixture of the two, most are bug-eye, but the higher ranked get the visors as they look more advanced and robotic.
I like the visor one best. It reminds me of something, though I can't seem to grasp what. And they look more evil.
