Introducing...Thrad

I haven't posted here in quite awhile... Anyway, meet Thrad!

Short for Thradius. Once a miner, he lost both of his arms in a cave-in. His arms were later replaced with mechanical "diggers", which made him even better at his job. He was eventually captured as a P.O.W. (the Native/Industrial war) after the Industrial forces invaded his village. Due to his powerful machine arms, he was selected against his own will to participate in "the Games." These were arena battles to the death, for the amusement of the Glukkons & Vykkers. Not wanting to take any lives, Thrad escaped, and is now hunted by numerous parties interested in the huge price on his head.

I don't have a species name for 'im yet.

Paramite Mask 03-07-2006 07:18 PM

Hey this is pretty cool! Nice job,Paco.:) Hm, this guy looks alot like a Steef without the hind legs, but it's your own species. A relative of the Steef, maybe? Nice job, man. More pictures of this Thrad fellow would be awesome. Keep up the niceness!:D

Thanks, peoples!

Abeguy 03-08-2006 06:41 PM

Real cool! I like him alot, he kinda looks like a Steef like Paramite Mask said, but very original!:D

Here's a few more pics:

1) A close-up of one of Thrad's species (I decided to call them "Rotovaks").

2) Iru (formerly known as "Spaz"), a fellow gladiator.

3) One of the bounty hunters after Thrad, split up into a foot, an arm, a head, and a torso (he's got Vykker legs).

Very cool! I feel like I saw the second one(In a different version)in some early Stranger's Wrath art, where Stranger is holding a guy like that and screaming at him.

Great job, I really like how Thrad is turning out!

Great drawings mate! I especially like the middle one the most.

Paco_the_Taco 03-12-2006 08:26 PM

Thanks again, folks!

I can't deicde what color Thrad should be. What do you guys think?

Dipstikk 03-12-2006 09:22 PM

I think either the red, black, or dull green (under the sketch) would look great.

outlaw king 03-12-2006 10:42 PM

Depends what his attitudes like.

If hes a dark , silent , that has a taint of evil or something like that then blacks the best.

If hes brave , heroic , and loves battling , then reds obviously the one.

If hes a spiritual , soft , yet strong spirited type then id go with yellow.

And the greens to me give of a sort of Escapist , cunning , wary sort of character feel.

Well , those are just my feels for the colours , good luck!

OK

Dancing Steef 03-13-2006 06:28 AM

Personally I like the dull green one, but take the one you think suits best for him ;)

Hmmm... What do you guys think about the idea of him changing colors to match his emotions?

Cullen Heath 03-13-2006 08:09 PM

No, I wouldn't do that. (Just my opinion. DO WHAT YOU WANT)

I would go with the darker green, or the blackish-grey.

Paramite Mask 03-13-2006 09:04 PM

Actually, that isn't a bad idea Paco.:) I think that would be cool, it adds more character to him in my opinion. I mean, let's just see what it would like. Hmm... I excpect very dark colors..

Paco_the_Taco 03-31-2006 06:34 AM

Two more:

1) Semi-Ally. His arm's over there so the torso can be seen better.

2) 'Nother bounty hunter.

Paco_the_Taco 04-11-2006 03:10 PM

2 more:

1) Abis, a 2-headed dog-type creature.

2) Mazari, a super-swift "Tarkus" who will do anything for cash.

CarboN 04-12-2006 03:57 AM

I like the somewhat not-so-detailed style of yours.
It looks good.

Hmm, about the colours..
I think the red colour makes him look very digimon-ish.
The brownish yellow makes the apprearance of fur and steeflikeness.
The black inflicts warriorness.
The different tones of green make him go more lizardy.
The violet is too dark.
Hmm. I think fur would fit on him, with that beard and all.
I like the accessories on him.

Aw, the fourth picture of yours, the bounty hunter after Thrad. His head is very appealing.
Haha, the semi-ally of Thrad's; I like his head and pelvis.
His supple frame is very nice, and you just have to like that muzzle.
But what's up with the foot.. the claws(?).. something weird. :0

The Abis' eye area is cute.
The Mazari, he's head is also very appealing. Looks fishy. His body is sweet, too.

tentacle_orgy 04-15-2006 11:45 PM

I like the fact that your art is just a tad minimalistic, with more emphasis on th overall picture and the general shapes than pointless little details...
Mind if I give you some advice? With your style, too little detail will make it look like Digimon; but too much detail will detract from the good, solid shapes you have going on there. Keep going in the direction you're going in, because the art is fantastic...

Paco_the_Taco 04-19-2006 11:59 AM

And here we have a desert airpirate, called an Arpask (his name is Harok).

EDIT: And I decided on a color for Thrad.
