Oddworld Creatures Anatomy

Hi to everybody, i'm new of this forum but i'm a veteran of oddworld since 1996...With the time i became a character designer and only in this last period i decided to dedicate myself to the study of Oddworld's characters and in particular of Sligs...so i'm here to receive opinion, helps from you to improve my study about this fantastic character...so i've jet made something usin some sketch from oddworld.com but it's not enough...i hope you can provide to show me some others drawings and whatever you want...Anyway...thx :D

Dancing Steef 02-28-2006 02:56 AM

 those are just so awesome:D Like the way you build up the sligs atonomy - especially the skeleton :) and to see a slig without his armour is very rare, great job;)

ps. Welcome to the Oddworld Forums;)

Welcome to the Forums!

Those are great! Not much need to improve in this, Pippo. Incredible work.

Matriar 02-28-2006 07:11 AM

Ooooo O.O Nice anatomy !

Havoc 02-28-2006 07:15 AM

Very very nice :D. I think you got it pretty much pinned XD.

PippoTheSlig 02-28-2006 07:23 AM

LOL Thx everybody 4 the compliments but it's obviously just a mine interpretation of how can be a slig under the mask, and proper for this my interpretation could be wrong...so i wish to see some official concepts about this, the problem is.....WHERE??? I know they exist... :P

Dipstikk 02-28-2006 08:36 AM

*applauds* BRAVO!

This looks so cool! Do some more, preferrably a Glukkon next! I've been trying to understand their body structure forever.

There was a time when I reconstructed their heads similar to this species of African leaf-headed turtle, whos name had an M in it, but escapes me. But the Gluk's head looks to be very loose, but tight in some areas (like the lower jaw and cheekbones). Let me see if I can dig up the turtle's skull and see if it would help.

Not only is the anatomy well placed but the detail is great too. When Togg was up there were a lot of profile pictures of sligs.

There is one suggestion I'd like to make for the sligs anatomy and that is that I think there should be more emphasis on the rib cage, perhaps a little bulkier. I'm know where as good as you at drawing anatomy so don't think I'm criticising you, it's just from what I remember seeing in some of the sketches. I think I have a sketch I did myself somewhere I could scan it in for you if it helps.

Lots of kudos for the work though.

PippoTheSlig 02-28-2006 10:15 AM

Yeah i agree with your observation, i think i should round the rib cage, lengthen tentacles and reduce the thickness of the tail....anyway my next work will be a study about skeleton and anatomy of glukkons....i remember somegthing about that but...i will improvise :D:D The problem is the anatomy of legs and foots....We'll see...

Dark Elite_H2 02-28-2006 10:57 AM

Hrm...Did yeh draw those and put 'em in to photoshop?
If not, then HELL! You color mighty damn well! Great one, Pippo! And enjoy yer stay at the Oddworld forums!
Can't wait to see more of yer :ahem: fantastical drawings.

Oddish 02-28-2006 11:20 AM

Fantastic work, I like it!

The skeleliton structure is impressive, aswell as your colouring, all done very nicely. I do think your work is accurate, but I'm woundering if Sligs realy have bones in their tenticals, I'm no osteologist, however I could imagine slig's tenticals not having bones.

Keep up the great work though.

Dark Elite, I realy do think it's done using computer software ;)

Wow! Very nice indeed! I am happy that someone FINALLY cleared up this stuff with slig anatomy.

Dipstikk 02-28-2006 04:34 PM

I found out the turtle is called a Matamata. I have yet to find a skull of it, however.

Alector 03-01-2006 04:48 AM

Wow, your work is great! Show us more! And welcome to the Forums!

PippoTheSlig 03-01-2006 10:56 AM

That's a mine interpretation of a Glukkon skeleton...note the doube backbone to support the heavy head.... :D

fallen ordinator 03-01-2006 11:34 AM

nice drawings mate ... you are new you said...i am new too,i hope we both enjoy our stay in oddworld forums:P

Havoc 03-01-2006 11:42 AM

The glukkon looks pretty damn good! Can't spot any bits off there, but then again, only Lorne and crew know that I guess :P

Dipstikk 03-01-2006 12:10 PM

That looks really good! Now here's a challange: do a Scrab! Those look extremely confusing to me.

Havoc 03-01-2006 12:18 PM

Hm, a scrab could actualy be easy. Since the existing meat charts already give a small anatomical view.

Alector 03-02-2006 03:13 AM

A challenge would be rather Actra :D

Dancing Steef 03-02-2006 03:29 AM

That Glukkon skeleton sure is well done:D If ya can draw a skeleton... can ya draw a Glukk:D? It would be so cool - I've tried draw those, but it's quite hard:fuzemb: anyway I'm looking forward to see more of yer great art;)

PippoTheSlig 03-05-2006 05:49 AM

Sorry for the delay...anyway here's the scrab skeleton ^_^ or better, how i think it could be... ;)

Havoc 03-05-2006 06:12 AM

You only gave it two legs! :P.

But yea, looks good! Nice work!

PippoTheSlig 03-05-2006 06:43 AM

the others two legs are behind that in foreground so i decided to don't draw it...are implied...

Sekto Springs 03-05-2006 06:51 AM

:

I'm pretty sure he was just messing with you ;)

PippoTheSlig 03-05-2006 07:07 AM

LOL *SLIG LAUGH*

Sekto Springs 03-05-2006 07:14 AM

These are very good. Most of the artwork I see on here is very distorted and just plain awful, but you blend a shading system and the symmetry needed to make an accurate skeletal model very well!

Havoc 03-05-2006 07:19 AM

Well no, you should still be able to see those two other legs, thats a perspective thing. But it's not a big deal :P

Sekto Springs 03-05-2006 07:23 AM

Only if he's drawing them in the basic X-shaped stance. If he's doing them in a l l-stance, which I think is the case, then that's fine. That's how it looks in the game too.

SligStorm 03-05-2006 08:01 AM

Dose anyone think mabe fuzzles have skeletons? or just mucle? cuz im not sure,

To Pippo the slig,
Could you mabe draw a Paramites Skeleton?
