Lorne Contributes to Gamespot Feature on Game Art

Thought I'd toss you apes a bone here:

http://www.gamespot.com/features/6144426/index.html

Gamespot interviewed several of the top creative types in the gaming industry on the subject of how one becomes a game artist. Lorne Lanning is featured prominently, and the banner for the article is a picture of a Clakker. He doesn't really say anything that we don't already know, but he does gush about how great Shadow of the Colossus and ICO are (two of my personal favorites, by the way).

Excellent find! I'm going to add it on oddblog as soon as I have some time :D

Very Interesting.

I like the drawing of the Clakker on the banner.

Nath 02-19-2006 05:09 AM

There's also a drawing of a grubb.

Nice one.

That's good and all, happy to see Lorne being metioned as an artist in the gaming indusrty. So, are we going to see more of this feature? Or is just a single article.

Wow, great find!

Lorne is very talented. I love the drawings of the Clakker and the Grubb.
My favorite piece of Lorne's (Out of the ones that I have seen) is his Dinosaur painting! It is so cool!

Well, nice find. It was a good article.

Scrab Watcher 02-19-2006 01:40 PM

Wonderful! Excellent find Angalok. This is very interesting indeed.

Oh, and Cullen, those (Oddworld) pictures weren't by Lorne. He doesn't do the art, he directs it.

(I want Shadow of the Colossus *tear*)

Cullen Heath 02-19-2006 01:43 PM

Oh, my bad. I assumed that sense he was on/in the article, he was the one who drew them.

But, his art is exellent, anyways.

Angalok 02-19-2006 06:52 PM

According to the article in question, Lorne hasn't personally painted or drawn in several years. A pity...

outlaw king 02-19-2006 07:48 PM

Well , his ideas are tops anyways.

Nepharski 02-19-2006 09:20 PM

Curses! I just found it and was about to post it myself. By the beard of Zeus!

Oh, yeah, good article too.

oddish, apparently they are going to do several articles, each one featuring a job within the gaming industry

I was hopeing it was only based on being an artist than the whole gaming indusrty. Because the article seemed to me only some simple answers to some straight forward questions.

Out of all those artists profiles it looks like Lorne is the most artistic one ;)
And love those sketches Lornes produced, such a creative genius mind.

The Grubb is wearing a helmet, or battle mask.
