Poor wittle bugs

I was wondering, when stranger fires out his live ammo,do they die? they mostly just dissapear so i dont know if there dead or not.

Software Bug 01-21-2006 06:21 AM

Good question,,, Here is what i think

Thudslug - Do not dies , they just smack the enemy and then fly away.
Zappflies - Dies , as they are being charged and/or shot and that can never be healthy.
Boombats - Dies , as they explode when they hit the enemy.
Stunkz - do not dies as they just stink and then go away.
Bolamites - Do not dies as seen in the intro movie.
Fuzzles - Do not dies bechause they only bite the one youre shooting at.
Chippunks - Dies as they atract the enemy but then gets killed by it.
Stingbees - do not dies as they just sting the enemy then flies away.

I agree with all but but the stingbees. I would think that they die after losing their stingers.

mitsur 01-21-2006 08:35 AM

Yeah, they are related a lot to regular bees, who die after losing their stings (not to be confused with wasps, who do not die, mostly because they don't leave a stinger in you [trust me, I have, let's just say, experience])

Pretty interesting questions, though. I assume they made them disappear for game reasons. I noticed that if you shoot a charged zapfly at a wall, it disappears, but uncharged, it stays. Same with everything else but Stunkz

I argree with all, but the ones who die. I don't think any of them die, (I'm almost 100% positive) they just get temporarily knocked-out.
Have you ever looked close to one (Any kind) after you shoot them? Try that.

Software Bug 01-21-2006 10:27 AM

at many you can't look at them when you shoot them,
bechause they arent there anymore :p

as with the stingbee i think you guys are right;)

Boombats don't stay there, they explode on contact.

Not all Earth bees lose their stingers when stinging mammals, and there's no reason that this generalisation should be carried over to Stingbees. It's possible, but by no means for certain. Riot Slugs do fragment when they're fired, which obviously kills them, and Boombats obviously explode unless the explosion is some kind of rocket propulsion they've evolved.

You can clearly see in the game that Chippunks don't die but always actually burrow under the ground, but in ‘reality’ I suppose there's no guarantee they'd always manage to do that before getting stamped on.

I don't know about Zappflies. It looks like their shape remains while they're emiting a charge, and then they suddenly aren't there, meaning they've disintergrated. That seems like a pretty limited defence mechanism.

I've never seen Chippunks burrowing. I'll have to take a closer look. I think Alf said once that they have strong skulls that survive a beating.

But it always was a strange defence mechanism that draws enemies closer rather than push them away.

Wil 01-21-2006 01:45 PM

Their shitspeak is described as having arisen through unnatural selection, which might account for its bizarreness. Perhaps the mechanism actually benefits the Chippunks because an individual leads an intruder away from the nest. What with disintergrating flies, exploding bats and fragmenting beetles, Western Mudos is certainly filled with creatures taking one for the team.

Max-Look at an enemy after you shoot it full of stingbees. You will plainly see that they lose their stingers. I wasn't making a generalisation. I was making an observation.

Chippunks Your Rhigt about them haveing a strange defence as for
Sting Bees, They Minet not die after loseing there sting thay mite grow a new one im mean it is ODDWORLD its odd lots of things could be like the opasit :p

Leto 01-21-2006 07:18 PM

Is that really necessary? I really cannot understand what you say. Perhaps a copy and paste into Word then a spell-check would assist you (us)?

OANST, I think that is the stingbees full corpse, although my memory might fail me. Perhaps they die on impact?

OANST 01-21-2006 07:40 PM

That is possible.

Wil 01-22-2006 11:03 AM

I'd forgotten about those Stingbee remnants. Alf's Assistant said on the Forums that they don't die. If they're just the stingers left, Stingbees may still survive. If they're the full bees, it might be that after the impact they're knocked out in the same way they are after impact with a Zappfly.
