what I think of oddworld...
 

Oddworld is a waste of time, so is this forum. Do you honestly think this will get you anywhere? I was stupid enough to play abes oddysey in PRIMARY school. I thought it was different and pretty good. The concept and idea was interesting and kept me busy for about 3 or 4 weeks, in which I finished the game 3 times. Once just to get through it, the second to rescue all the muds and the third to kill all of them. And get to grenades.

But anyhow that is in the past. One of my friends finally talked me into joining the furum, this was Max - abe333.

I am sorry to have to say that I have wasted about 50 hours in total on this furum, and the ten minutes that I have hopefully not wasted to get as many people out of this forum and obsession as possible.

Hate the oddworld forums and hate oddwold fanaticism. PLEASE. Do it for yourselves, there are better things in this life like MONEY, which you could be making or even saving.

You can play the game but don't waste your time.

I understand what you mean, but this forum isn't a waste of time. It's about sharing and discussing intellectual ideas...about Oddworld. And people actually fund this forum and take care of it. If some people spend hours and hour waiting for someone to post something then that's their problem. Capeesh?

Oddworld is one of the leading companies in CG, their games might not be appealing to the usual gaming public, but Oddworld games are something only certain people can appreciate.

Do I think this will get me anywhere? Not realy, this is a thing I call free time. Do YOU think surfing the goddamn internet will get you anywhere? I have news for you; it won't.
But the most stunning part here is;

1. You think money is the most important thing in the world.
2. You automaticly assume everyone on this forum doesn't have a life besides Oddworld. That's the same as saying you don't have a life besides being a total dipshit, get my point? Good, then we understand each other.

Anyway back on topic. It seems that you just got here and decided. "Hey....I bet everyone here likes oddworld and nothing else. So I won't even bother looking at off-topic discussion and it's sub-forums cause i'm a moronic jackass." I almost feel bad typing this on a special day (My big brothers b-day. He's in college and I can't see him though. :() but if you even take a look at peoples: sigs, profiles, etc. you can see that they love things other than oddworld. Take me for example. When I feel like going outside and doing something physical I play basketball knockou or run around a whole block for the hell of it. If I want time of the computer but still be lasy I go ahead and play some metroid. And I am only one of the many people here who have a lot of great innovative things to do for themselves. Now I will stop now before my hea-*head explodes*

Well….my experience was a little different.

I got hooked on OW and was inspired to sculpt some of the characters which I posted here on the forum. This led to being contacted by the founders of the company and many of the employees. That led to being contacted by former OW personnel that had ventured off into other areas (i.e. games, film, etc.). This pattern spread to many other branches of industry through people who love the OW characters and stories. Ultimately, this yielded my work being featured in a publication (along with a nice quote from Lorne) and to date more than $8000 in freelance sculpture work. And all of this in one year.

All of my reference material and much inspiration was gathered from this forum and the user there in (X, Dip,.. that’s right, I’m talking to you guys).

So, to respond to your comment about this forum being a waste of time that could have been spent making money…… I respectfully disagree.

Oddworld has helped me so much.

Because I don't really have any time anymore to play computer games, the only games I do play on is Oddworld.

When I was younger and bought AO, my imagination went through the roof and it got bigger and bigger. It inspired me so much to start writing, and now i've started writing a book (not about oddworld of course. And other things besides oddworld inspired me, like LOTR), 100 pages later, i've only just started.

I like this thread. It's funny.

Molluck2000 Oddworld is something that we like and this is just our community! If you don't like it tuff shit and all that rot.

We all have lives on here and we live those lives too so why go through all of the time wasted making this thread?

If you don't like Oddworld then theres off topic or theres the door. Nobody on here is stopping you. Granted you have a right to your own opinion and you have a right to piss people off. But sometimes lad consider on how other people view you as. I sure did in the past on how I acted and I am not ashamed of admitting my mistakes.

So look Oddworld is just something special to us, it inspires us and makes us very creative people. I tell you the truth Oddworld is one of the things that makes people inspired no matter how old it is. Am I not right on that people?

Why is this thread so long? Many of you have neglected to realise when I joined this damned forum. 2001. I just wanted to check back (after 5 years) to see how everyone is going. Good to see somone is making money. I actually made some money selling guides to AO on EBAY. My brother helped me with that.

Don't get me wrong Odworld isn't so bad. I must have said it was stupid from seeing how many annoying fans have joined this forum and pretended to be big-shots (and big-shits - I think they might not be pretending).

I stopped at AE when I noticed that bill gates took an interest in OI and bought the whole thing (or bound it by contract).

Munch's oddysey was great. Played it once. AO and AE are collecting dust in my basement with the psx.

Then suddenly lorn came along with stranger, which pissed me and abe333 RIGHT OFF.

Then the forum pissed me off.
