So I got MO for the GBA...
I must say it's not that bad. Although I liked the other portable oddworld games better this is pretty fun. A few glitches though but nothing serious. The music is a tad reperetive, and if you die you gotta start the whole level over again (No quicksave....ARG!), it uses a password function, and....It's actually harder than the Xbox version. In a good way.
There are 19 levels (As said in the instruction booklet), and the storyline actually takes place after the vykkers lab thing. Overall a pretty good game IMO. What do you think about the portable oddworld games? (Oh and I got an exclusive MO poster with the game :D) |
I've only got one -Oddworld Adventures 1- and it's not too bad. It's definitly not as challenging as AO but it's fun. My friend has Oddworld Adventures 2 and I've played that too which is ok but nothing compared to AE.
Is there anyway you pan post a picture of the MO poster that you got with the game? |
I muchly liked all the Gameboy Oddworld titles, as much as everyone else shat on them and disliked them.
MO is grand, but it's movement controls hurt my thumb. Ahar. Yus. |
Sooo... what happend after Vykers Labs then?
|
I saw it on sale in a Store, but never bought it. I get this uneasy feeling when I come around GB adaptions for consol games.
|
Yea Havoc munch and abe have to save this place called windbraker hill. Oh and by the way I just wanna tell you. When scrabs die they make the slog dying sound.
|
I played it, and ...
It just didn't feel like Oddworld to me. Look at the fusing thing: rescuing fuzzles and fusing them into stronger fuzzles? That doesn't seem like Oddworld. The golden eggs? Doesn't seem like Oddworld. This game wasn't much of a challenge compared to its console counterpart (not very hard, granted, but still more of a challenge than the GBA version). The only Oddworld things in it were the characters, and the only new thing that seemed very Oddworld was the name of Break Wind Hill. I can't remember the name of the company on the hill ... so meh. In any case, it was a decent game for a car trip, but ... didn't feel like Oddworld to me. |
:
I don't remember the eggs being gold, what do you mean? Oh, and the name of the company is: "Evenwurst Weenerz Co." Anyways, I have all the Oddworld gameboy games (2 copies of each) and I would say that the gameplay is rather nice for gameboy. I like all of them, especially Oddworld Adventures 2. |
Can someone write the storyline?
the goal for each level? |
Sorry, but they are almost exactly the same as the PS1 and Xbox versions.
The exact same story line, they just cut out, shortened and changed some levels. |
:
I forget exactly what happens, but it includes Abe and Munch unlocking an ancient Mudokon flying device in order to infiltrate Fort Glokz, the Glukkon bank within the factory. The story is actually pretty good, though it lacks the symbolism OWI's games typically have. The visuals manage to be even drabber than the Xbox's, and the controls are shockingly unresponsive. Golden eggs didn't seem very Oddworld, I agree, but I'm positive that Fuzzles fusing was just a way to reduce the number of characters the GBA had to simulate. The additions to the Oddworld universe otherwise seem competely plausible. Hence, I enjoy the story but disliked the gaming. The only thing I'll say for the gameplay is that it contained nice puzzles, which Munch's Oddysee seriously lacked. Interestingly, the game ends with the Almighty Raisin telling Abe and Munch to take a vacation - the very same excuse Lorne gave in the X-Factor programme as to why they were focusing on a new character. :p |
Thanks for spoiling the ending for me Max >.>....
|
I am sorry. It's been out so long I didn't recognise it as being spoiler-notice worthy. It hardly spoils the storyline, though - it's public domain knowledge that Abe and Munch took a vacation. It's not like I explained how they saved the day, which I can't, because I can't remember.
|
Golden eggs???
I don't ever remember golden eggs in the game. What do you mean? As far as I remember, they used the same blue pokedotted eggs as the Xbox version. Maybe I just need to replay it through. |
They're involved in the ending somehow, so I couldn't tell you without spoiling it for metroixer, and also because I can't remember. They're not Mudokon eggs, they're literally eggs made of a gold-like material.
|
What level?
I've got all the levels' passwords and even some bonus passwords. Tell me what level and I'll check it out right now. |
It's not in a level, it's the ending. Go to the last level and complete it.
|
Ohhh, THOSE golden eggs.
Yes, I know what you mean. That is kinda wierd, huh. |
I bought this game the week it came out. I talked about it back then, then every so often someone would join the forums and start talking about it again, asking if anyone else played it.
I completed it, then left it because in some parts it was quite boring and i found quite hard. (the level with all the wells especially.) And i really can't be bothered to go back to it, much like the xbox version. |
i feel the same way it was fun, at first but i didnt think it was all that great simply because it was so unlike the true oddworld games, since it was on GBA i thought it was pretty bad
