Stranger's Wrath - Esoteric game award
 
Hi there! Just had this through google alerts, apparently SW won an unofficial award from www.gamasutra.com (which provides "new and unusual ways to think about games and culture" and an esoteric approach to gaming). It's nomination was for Best Use Of Extra-Terrestrial Interlopers.

The first of these special awards goes to Best Use Of Extra-Terrestrial Interlopers, which for 2005 goes to Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath. The judges decided that its mix of Spaghetti Western tropes and cute-as-bull-pie alien culture was worthy of an esoteric commendation.

That's nice to see, even if it is mostly tongue in cheek. Gamasutra are my favourite games-related website.

This is the first time I've seen Oddworld get an unofficial award. Sure, I understand that MO wasn't that good, but Stranger's Wrath was, and I quote, "'Da bomb!"

Yeah, usually their awards are official. :)

OddBlog's fixed now. I've no idea what happened. I found a faulty piece of code, but I haven't touched the coding in months and it's been working perfectly fine.
