King Kong the movie

Has anyone seen it yet? What do you think? I myself saw it last night and I have to say.....I swear I felt a tear or something I don't know. The movie IMHO is more beutiful and romance than action....

Well, it does sound good. But to be honest, I have no desire to see a giant ape crushing things for two hours. [/generalizing]

metroixer 12-17-2005 09:19 AM

Three hours and seven minutes actually.

Havoc 12-17-2005 09:39 AM

Three hours?! Damn... way to long to watch a super old story. I never liked anything about King Kong... I dunno why they choose to make a movie out of it... or rahter; Remake it.

Cullen Heath 12-17-2005 09:39 AM

Im gonna see it soon. It looks so good!

oddguy 12-17-2005 09:45 AM

I myself have never been excited about King Kong...
but the fact that Peter Jackson is involved in this makes me want to see it.

Plus, Weta Digital is totally paving the way in the special effects department and kicking ILM's ass...whick makes me very happy.

And I don't see why people would be upset with 3 hours. I say you're getting your money's worth! ;)

I'm seeing it this Sunday.

I never liked the old movie. It sucked, and the evil villain was just a good ol' entrepreneur [sp] of the 1930s. Nothing wrong with him, especially the very staged line "Quick Boys! My millions".

But the new movie, although I haven't seen it, I think it'll be fantastic. I love all retro things like that, and it just looks amazing. Jack Black is an amazing actor, and Peter Jackson used Circus [Gosh I can't remember his first name -_-] to create Kong. Circus is the person who they used to create Gollum.

The only niggle I have seen from the previews, is where they mix CGI and reality. I mean, where Kong picks up the woman... That looks slightly crap, but it's fantastic in comparison to the old version of King Kong.

Rexy likeys.

Andy Serkis? :p

The film looks fantastic. Really fantastic - pure entertainment with all the ingredients for a spectacular movie. I shall see it tomorrow, I hope.

Cullen Heath 12-17-2005 09:59 AM

How much is it for one ticket where each of you live? Here its 4.50 (dollars.)

LOVE... THIS... MOVIE.

This is great. Anyone who doesn't go to see this is a dirty stinking hippie communist.

The effects are all a boy could hope for, the dinosaur designs are amazing (a few were terrifyingly innacurate, but this ain't no steeenking documentary), and the action scequences were wonderfully done.

If nothing else, go see it for the fight scene between Kong ant three tyrannosaurs.

I don't believe that's exactly accurate, although I have yet to see the film.

Now, what I have seen looks great, and the reviews have been great, I hope it's great.

I'll probably check it out tomorrowz.

Leto 12-17-2005 02:41 PM

Watch it, judge it, but don't base anything on the fact that the reviews are great and kiss Jackson's ass.

God. His movies angry up my blood.

DanTheDamnManDan 12-17-2005 03:35 PM

This movie was awesome. My favorite part was when they got attacked by giant mutant bugs.

At least you didn't say you wanted to see it because Peter Jackson was involved. Save your $14 odd dollars and 3 hours of your life and wait for the DVD.

Too much blubbing, too little coon dancing says me. It could have easily been cut down to an hour and a half. Though, I did 'lol' at several moments:

Dinosaur jaw breakage
Primitive dancers
Kong's demise

2/10 for hilarity.

metroixer 12-18-2005 08:52 AM

Oh wait I actually have to say something that happened while watching the movie. :D
Anyway this is how it went really.

Some dude: Wow this movie is real great! The story is awesome and-
Other dude: Okay buddy we were here to see the movie not listen to your comments.
*everyone claps*

It was actually pretty funny if you were actually there.

OH! And aren't those worm things with razor sharp teeth just cute? :p

Cullen Heath 12-18-2005 08:55 AM

Was it someone in the theater that said that, or in the movie?
Im goig to see it on wed.

metroixer 12-18-2005 09:44 AM

It was in the theater. Dang funny and random!

off topic:500 posts! booya!

Cullen Heath 12-18-2005 10:46 AM

Thats crazy.
Metroixer, would you recommend seeing King Kong? Im still not sure if thats what I wanna see, I need some opinions.

Scrab-Meat 12-18-2005 11:14 AM

Well I liked it and I also liked the old 1930's King Kong aswell. If you ever seen the making of the 1930's King Kong you would be amazed on how much work is involved in doing a stop motion film. You learn to appreciate the film makers in the early days because they did it all by hand no matter how fake it looked. The people in the 30's thought it looked amazing. Because Kong in film history marked a milestone in visual effects, I have learned to appreciate Marian C Cooper's work. Peter Jackson brought back a classic tale to todays standard which to me is a fun idea.

Heck if you get the 1930's King Kong on DVD you can see the making of it and plus see Peter Jackson make the missing spidar pit scene in the same style as the 1930's. The animators at Weta loved doing that. It was like a break from the computer which is cool.

Those backgrounds of the jungles in the old 1930's Kong were the combination of large Matt paintings done on glass and miniatures. I am actually looking into doing glass painting myself in the style of Kong.

I have stories I am doing illustrations for and I think glass paintings will make for the best results for a lush scene.

Don't believe everything you hear...

I do much love my stop motion, oh yes me does. But the animator for the origional Kong had a spot of bother, if I remember correctly. Something like, his wife killed his two sons and then commited suicide while he was making the film, poor lad.

Shrink 12-18-2005 03:34 PM

Just seen it. Amazing film, really amazing.

A few of the green screen shots were bad, however.

Daxter King 12-19-2005 04:12 AM

Just saw it yesterday and it is freakin awesome.Cullen health if you like any of the following genres you shoul see it action, horror, sci-fi, comedy, and drama it has it all. A funny part was when they find kong's foot print.
some guy: look at the size of this footprint.
other guy: there is only one animal alive to make a footprint that big... the abomidle(sp?) snowman

Dancing Steef 12-19-2005 05:30 AM

haven't seen the movie yet, but my sister bought the game for a couple weeks ago and two days later she'd finished it:happy:

metroixer 12-19-2005 06:30 AM

Cullen I recommend you seeing th move. Not highly though. I would give it a 7/10.

4.50! If Jackson wants to make back his money He's gonna have to charge a lot more than that! 4.50, thats equivilent to £2.40, here (IOM) it's roughly £6 to see a movie at the cinema. You lucky people!

ANN NEELY 12-19-2005 11:40 AM

My question is: How can King Kong be the eighth wonder of the world when the other seven are buildings?

I really fail to see what was wrong with the 1933 version. They already attempted a remake in the '70's and it sucked. I'm sick of these fucking movie directors ruining already good movies.
