Is it just me or....

Are most video games getting unintresting? Maybe this is something puberty hit me with or i'm just bored, but....Well the only thing that could keep me interested in the business is nintendo (Which is doing something different at least :p). Sure I play and laugh still during games but....I don't know. Even the old games are loosing they're magic for me. Like I said this could just be me, but it seems as though the game industry is VERY slowly dying for me. Is this happening to anyone else? I don't like it. It's scary.

Problem is that it's more about graphics these days then about good gameplay or more importantly: Good stories.
There are plenty of gamers who tell you that they don't care about the story line, but just look how fast they will notice it missing when it's not there. And the gameplay isn't realy getting any diffrent. It's been the same standard in shooters for years now, RPG's get old extremely fast without anything new and racing games barely have anything to chance in the first place. So yea, games kinda get old with the lack of new idea's. And the fact that EA controls about 40% of the worlds gaming market undoubtfully has something to do with it as well...

Give me a list of games you like and games you used to like. I will give you enlightenment. Kinda like that vending machine thread, only MUSH LESS POOPLES.

It's because most of the games out there today lack originality. At least that's what I think. I don't think I'm as interested in them as I was when I was younger, either, but I think I'll always play games like Zelda and Oddworld even if I stop playing games altogether and call myself a "non-gamer girl" because they are the most original ones out there, in my opinion. :p Whenever I play those, I actually feel as if I've accomplished something. ;)

I am thinking about getting the game Gun. I know it looks cliche and such, but from what I've read, the game itself is a piece of beauty.

I'm not really that interested in it, honestly, but perhaps if I play it I might change my mind. ;)

Hmm....

Well ones I still like are:

all metroid games(duh!)
Links awakening I still play for fun
Soul calibur 2 has good gameplay
Both animal crossing games
Mario Kart
Crono Trigger (Only because I still can't beat that damn last boss! Evil game! :p)
...Nothing else is popping up right now.

Once that lost it:
Metal gear games
Halo (get a gun, shoot, repeat it gets boring.)
Sonic games (Well only the new ones. It feels like they are missing something.)
Mario platformers(Hopefully that new sidescroller for DS will get me hooked again.)
That's all I can think of for now....

Yeah, Halo is so DARN repetitive that it can get annoying now! I thought it was fun when I played it for the first time, but it's just completely overrated.

Well, shucks.

To be honest, none of those games really stimulate me that much (mentally speaking, I mean. Italian plumbers always get me going), but since you seem to like games that are more geared towards kids, I'd suggest... Fable. And everything you're playing right now. And that's about it. Sawray.

In general, I have completely lost faith in the gaming industry. Save perhaps a few titles, every next gen title game is utter shit. Gaming used to be so much better.

That is all.

Animal Crossing never gets old Kimon :p

I have to admit I dont like games like I use to. But 2 games brought me back. I suggest you pick up metal arms it is out for all the systems and is pretty cheap. Try to rent or buy the king kong game it is amazing. Sometimes I go back to my super nintendo for some fun.

I played Metal Arms bbefore, it was quite amazing and enjoyable.

I'm finding that as I get older, I'm wanting games with more depth to them. Console games seem to shallow for me... they lack things to do... I much prefer online RPG games where you've got a whole load of items, tasks, tricks, stuff, whatnot to do or collect or make or whatever. That's more my kind of thing.

Half Life 2 was good, but despite all it's advancements it followed a set path that you would inevitably end up following. That's pretty lame really... it's like putting a fast car on railway tracks.

What I like is user customised content, lush atmospheric persistant worlds, complete open endedness, ultimate depth, endless lists of things to do, character progression and improvement, etc. The main problem with games that like to have all these elements is they also like to have major GRIND - which bugs me bigtime, I don't like grind and I believe it is the only thing holding back this form of gaming from becoming the most popular form. I mean, it shouldn't be easy to do everything but it shouldn't take so long that by the time it's done you're a month older and by that time so bored with it that you don't care any more and have lost interest.
