Big Brother Is Watching!

http://www.infowars.com/articles/big..._manufa_1.html

If some people can't be bothered to follow the link, basically the Government (US or UK, I'm not sure. But if one of the two does it, I'm sure the other will follow suit or maybe they already have...) and computer manufacturers have been caught hardwiring key loggers into all new laptops.
Just incase you dont know what a key logger is (kinda simple), it's something that logs what keys you press on your keyboard and saves/sends them.

So basically, if you've recently bought a laptop and you don't like the idea of the government knowing exactly what you're typing, I suggest taking apart the laptop and looking for something that looks like this.

That would be the keylogger, logging every key you hit.

Leto 12-09-2005 06:16 PM

That is pointless. Damn them, governy types.

To avoid them knowing what you type, you could just not go on the internet. No way for the thing to send.

Still, evile.

Come to think of it, the government is more of a nuissance rathe than a helper these days.

CheeseOfGlory 12-09-2005 07:17 PM

Honestly, infowars is probably as conspiracy nut as you can get. I really doubt the US government could get away with anything of this magnitude, no matter how much I hate the Bush administration and the idea of government in general.

Yeah, cheese is right, but the FBI does do a lot of this cyber stuff these days.

Nate 12-10-2005 12:36 AM

1) It's obviously the US if it involves the Dept. of Homeland Security.
2) It feels like a conspiracy theory/practical joke to me.
3) If the government wanted to know what's going on in your computer, they would send you a targetted software keylogger as a virus. It's much more practical and cheaper.
4) There is little point in logging everything typed on every computer sold in the US. The amount of data they would have to trawl through is huge.
5) Speaking of which, the CIA already monitor something like 70% of the email traffic in the world looking for certain keywords (there's a huge satellite array in the Australian desert just for that purpose). It's much more useful to know what people are communicating to each other rather than just what they type on their own computer.
6) It's way too risky an endeavour: so many techies out their would open up their computers and find out what's going on. Surely the government likes their evil schemes a little more secretive?

Indeed. I swear this is why I was still in mother russia. The land is cheap. The economy rocks. Well....They're also not stupid enough (the russian government) to send soldiers to Iraq and kill innocent iraqis by "accident" during a war!....Mommy can we move now?

Abe 01 12-10-2005 07:15 AM

Hold on there, little doggy.

And right on, nate_dog_woof. Praise practicality.

metroixer 12-11-2005 09:34 AM

Wait a minute....I just found out we could use this for our advantage! I mean what if the government clicked on a certain link which links to a certain website which could give them a certain virus! Oh....And I don't know what does certains would be by the way. That or just bombard them with p0rn. Lots of it. I woulden't be doing it though. I don't have the guts to go to does kind of sites >.>.

Squeeshe the metroid 12-15-2005 09:48 AM

Oh, oh!! Great idea Metroixer! I'll do it! I've been on some virus infected porn sites! I still have a link to them too. Think it'll work? they could have firewalls and spam mail blockers. Even if it did work, I bet they have like, 50,000 back-up systems. And yes, I agree. **** AMERICA!

OANST 12-15-2005 10:58 AM

kill prince charles
As much as I'm against the monarchy, I wouldn't get rid of them. Not only do they bring in alot of tourists, helping the economy. But before any laws are passed [etc], and only if parliment has agreed to the law [etc], the queen [or future king] has to sign a lil piece of paper giving the go ahead. Nifty? Not really, just another safe guard.

Starting?

Nate has a point with the virusy thing, for if the small chip was used for the same purpose, one would have to be connected to the internet for the key log to be sent to a government site (unless it was sent to a iSatellitey-thingamagic v247, but then some kind of connection would have to be established, and someone would notice it somehow).

Squeeshe the metroid 12-15-2005 12:07 PM

I'm getting reported for saying **** america?!?!

I don't think it works that way, Viruses dont transfer that way... Well i hope not. I used to mess around with keyloggers. Good fun, good fun.
