When did fangus get cancelled ?

i heard fangus got cancelled, why and when because i havnt heard of it being cancelled so far anywhere

Wil 10-24-2005 09:41 AM

There was never any explicit announcement that the game had been cancelled, but since OWI ceased all internal development shortly after announcing the game, and have been looking to find a suitable production company to outsource animation to, it's more than likely the game is not in the works at the moment.

Abe 01 10-24-2005 09:43 AM

thanks im not that botherd anyway it didnt look that good and didnt have the odd in it like the last games
did anyone else like / hate it?

Dipstikk 10-24-2005 10:26 AM

*Raises hand* Yep, I did. The designs look way too human. This is Oddworld, I don't want to see anything closer to a human than Stranger running around. Now what we need for a main character is something with a disk-shaped body, 6 legs, and a toothy beak. THAT would be cool.
What in Odd's name was Lorne thinking when he let go of Farazad? He was my favorite concept artist. :(

Xavier 10-24-2005 10:34 AM

There are things that aren't always choosen by Lorne you know.

Dipstikk 10-24-2005 10:50 AM

Oh, wait. I remember, Farazad went to do that Darkwatch game. I still need to try that game.

I guess I've always been a Farazad fanboy. I wouldn't mind him being there if there was ever an Actra's Oddysee: the game. NOCTERO DRAWN BY FARAZAD!

Xavier 10-24-2005 11:18 AM

I've got the DarkWatch Game and the DarkWatch Art Of book...
both worth the buy if you like Farzad's art.

High Moon Studios: http://www.highmoonstudios.com/
(Farzad: http://www.highmoonstudios.com/compa...arahramyan.php)
Book: http://www.designstudiopress.com/books/darkwatch/

OANST 10-24-2005 11:32 AM

I also bought Darkwatch and was massively let down by it. It was very short and not a great deal of fun.

Fuzzleman54321 10-24-2005 12:40 PM

To me Fangus Looked rubbish.
Like Dippstik Said, Too human Like.

I was always more of a Steven Olds fanboy. He's the guy who designed the characters from AO; the muds, glukks, sligs, scrabs, paramites. Not that Farzad (no extra 'a') isn't also great but I just think, credit where credit's due.

BTWWTF are you talking about Actra? You're not doing a 'Nathan' and making up new quintologists are you ?

Cullen Heath 10-24-2005 05:03 PM

remember when that guy came into the forums a while back(i was not a member yet i just read the posts)and told all of you about fangus and then about a month later he said"f you america and bush i hate you all.this was all a joke". ever since that I thought that fangus was never even a thought by oddworld inhabitants. was it?

Nate 10-24-2005 07:30 PM

No, I don't remember that.

But in any case, we heard about Fangus from the Official Xbox mag (if I remember correctly) and we have also seen some production and level designs so it definately was real.

Cullen Heath 10-24-2005 07:37 PM

yes actually that did happen but maybe it was in a different forum.not to be rude but the brutal ballad of fangus klot was never real.

Nate 10-24-2005 08:11 PM

Did you not read my last post. Oddworld employees were talking about it and have information on their personal website. That makes it pretty real to me.

Xav, have you got the links to Silvio's website and the one with the game design, I forget who it was?

Xavier 10-25-2005 09:05 AM

the announcement from a mag:

Silvio's art:

and because I love you all:

Jeremy's art:

Nate 10-25-2005 09:45 AM

Are those pictures new? I don't think I've seen them before.

Who's Jeremy BTW?

What do you think the second one is? It looks like a silo or some sort of disjointed ammo canister.

Xavier 10-25-2005 09:52 AM

They were on Jeremy French's site... an ex Inhabitant, but that site is down now

the second one is this I think:

Oddish 10-25-2005 02:00 PM

Way the go Xav.

Those are beautiful renderd objects.

Cullen Heath 10-26-2005 06:41 AM

wait where did you get the ones of the guns and the drill thing?

Oddish 10-26-2005 06:50 AM

As Xav just said, Jeremy's personal website where he contains his art.

Cullen Heath 10-29-2005 04:16 AM

ok first... who is jeremy, and second... IF fangus is made, when do you think it will come out?

Wil 10-29-2005 04:37 AM

Jeremy French was a realtime artist on Stranger's Wrath. Assuming work on the game started right now, and assuming they'll use the Stranger Engine, it might be out in a year, but since the first assumption is blatently not true, there's no way of telling. If to every fan's horror the first film turned out to be The Brutal Ballad of Fangus Klot, then there's a relatively significant probability that a game tie-in would be made.

Cullen Heath 10-29-2005 06:05 AM

yeah

hey do any of you have a problem with a human(fangus is mostly human right, corect me if Im wrong)being on oddworld...I cirtainly do.

Dipstikk 10-29-2005 09:59 AM

I think that's one of the big reasons to why anyone who's pissed about Famgus IS pissed. That and the excessive violance it seemed to promote, though honestly, I wouldn't have minded that as much as I would have minded seeing Fangus look so human.

And I KNOW people aren't going to be happy to read that from me, but you know what? Eat me. I like blowng things up in games as much as I like the Abe and Munch style games, dammit.

Xavier 10-29-2005 10:21 AM

My main problem with Fangus was that he had guns... and lots of it...
Actually I have to see the finished game (which wont happen I guess) to have a 100% accurate judgement

Cullen Heath 10-29-2005 06:46 PM

accurate judgement meaning that it got good reviews or what?
he did have a ton of guns.

Nate 10-29-2005 07:55 PM

accurate judgement meaning that he can't judge it seeing as he hasn't played the game and doesn't know how it would work.

Seriously dude, how many times do I need to clarify simple concepts to you?

Cullen Heath 10-29-2005 08:58 PM

sorry about that but you dont have to be such an ass.

Xavier 10-30-2005 01:25 AM

I simple wanted to say I've had to play the game to judge it.

Cullen Heath 10-30-2005 08:25 AM

yeah I understand.

does anyone know who those people are that people are that do someting with fangus(in that article)
