Exodus is still the best in the series!
IMO :) but I'm having trouble with director Aslik when playing in WinXP. He's frozen in place, cannot move him at all. It's such a shame that only 10 seconds gameplay, where nothing really interesting happens anyway, should stop the gaming experience.
I ended up installing Win98 in a VM, loaded a save just before posessing Aslik, played the 10 seconds, saved, and loaded the save game in XP again. Has anybody found out how to get Aslik to behave as he should? In WinXP? I've tried analyzing the exe in different compatibility tools, but no luck in finding what's wrong. |
You know what that's confusing for me... Cause I have XP and beat this game tons of times without any asilik problems. Maybe it is just your disk along with tons of other peoples messed up cd's. Meh can't help you but just wanted to point that out.

Well... it can't be the disk, and not the installation of XP either. I have tried it on three different computers, but they all have the same problem. The last time I sendt a save game to one here on this forum, and Aslik was frozen in XP for him too. The save game can be used in 98 though.
Just weird.... the only thing I can think of then is the CD. Is it possible to get a new CD from the company...? They probably wouldn't have any I guess.. |
People may be selling new conditions at ebay. I allways see that kind of stuff for old games. If that dosen't work well I guess you're just gonna have to hope there is a good copy somewhere...

I don't really want to buy the game twice, especially as I don't know if it would solve the problem. I might get in touch with them and see if they have some suggestions. A long shot though.

i get the same problem too sometimes and also i always have one laser beam out of the three at feeco depot that wont open after i have sucessfully completed the three necesary levels.
by the way do u use the original exe to play it on windows xp,or the one that goes around in the internet?if the one you use is original,then i want it,the version i bought wont play on win xp |

It would be interesting to see if the same thing happens for you with my save game metroixer, as you don't have this problem. I have zipped the savegame just before possessing Aslik, (with all the mudokons rescued at that point, but this is irrelevant). It can be downloaded here: http://public.qtopia.no/thisone.zip
I guarantee it's free for virus or trojans or tampered with in any way. If you can play past this point I'm stumped as to what could be the problem. But if the savegame gives you the same problem, then it must be the CD causing the problem...? I raised this issue the last time I played it, you can see the thread here: http://www.oddworldforums.net/showthread.php?t=6422 but didn't solve the problem at that time either. I keep going back to this game, it's great :D what a downer Munch was ..... I never could get involved with Stranger either, neither of them have the ability to immerse me in the game like Exoddus has.... Can I hope for a PC-game next time? Doubtful huh |

The link doesn't point to a video, it's a save game in the zip. The save game can be placed in the Exoddus folder, in explorer, and when you start the game, you can load the save game called "this one".

yes,it is buggy for me too.maybe i was wrong,i probably didnt have that problem many times because i couldnt reach that part,since i have the problem with the lasers.sorry.
when i had win 98,i once found this problem with the exe i am using so that i can play it on xp.i made a save with him being frozen and tried it on win 98.he was still frozen.but when i saved it before meeting him and then met him while using the original exe on win 98,it worked.i think the problem is on playing the game on windows xp and not the cd |

it doesn't crash at Aslik either... he's just inaminated (is that a word? LOL) not possible to move him after posessing him...
