Lorne Lanning Quoted...

This is not very intresting, but it's still related somehow to Oddworld so...
Here is a place we can put some quotes of Lorne:

Lorne Lanning was quoted by joystiq, about the revolution's new "controller":

:

Lorne Lanning hopes a larger version will be made available for “the larger hand endowed.”

Hmm interesting I wonder what that means. I mean I understand that its centered at controlers I think but what else?

Dipstikk 09-24-2005 08:53 AM

Mudokons have pretty big hands, maybe he's making a joke or a refrence?

Sinlight 09-24-2005 08:57 AM

Um, maybe he's just got big hands...

Xavier 09-24-2005 08:59 AM

Or simply that Americans have bigger hands then Japanese :p
I don't think this is realy intresting anyway ;)

You know what they say about a guy with big hands....big feet.

Personally, Nintendo's totally ****ed up over and over again. First with the GameCube and now with this lame-ass Revolution controller. How the hell are normal games going to be played with it properly??

Xavier 09-24-2005 12:11 PM

With a kind of controler like that;

Actually, I'm glad Nintendo dares to innovate

PS: please note this isn't an official desing, however this kind of controller add-on will be produced

...Which would be the whole point. The games they will make are going to be completely different, just like the better DS games are completely different to GameBoy games.

This is kinda like the original Xbox controllers in reverse. After all, the smaller version was only developed when they had to release in Japan.

I would really have to agree. While Sony and Microsoft work to improve graphics and technology(this isn't a bad thing), it's good to know Nintendo is out there trying to advance innovation.

Not entirely, they're still rehashing licenses they created for their first console, the NES, such as Maro and Zelda. I know it's good to satisfy the fans cravings, but how about creating some new characters?

I don't think I am gonna like that "controller" very much for long game sessions. You have to move the thing in all directions all the time for some games. I can imagine that after half an hour your hand or arm will hurt from all the movement you need to do. I always play with the ps2 controller, meanhwile leaning with my arms or hands on me legs, so that I don't have to hold it up the whole time. After a while you can't hold it up any longer.

I think you can compare it to the eyetoy thing. You can't play that for a long time too, unless you are very trained.

And now all of you guys and girls come with the argument that you don't play games for so long in a row. But some people do, like me when I have a very good game.

And that "unoffical" device, that is made by IGN, in corporation of nintendo's agreement or something like that. But that thing will be used for the backwardscompability(or how do you call it:P). It is just there, so you can also play the old games.

Nate 09-25-2005 12:20 PM

I'm sure they'll take that into account when they make the games, just like there have been no long, in-depth games with the eye-toy. The ones that involve waving the controller around spastically will either be short games or short segments within a larger game.

Perhaps this thread should be moved to OT as we really aren't discussing Lorne.

Look, I'm not saying I don't like innovation in video games. I'm not saying that at all. I'm just saying that the traditional/casual gamer might be disuaded by this new controller design. And while new and fun game designs/concepts are fresh and fun to play, I can't imagine basing an ENTIRE SYSTEM around said innovation, rather some optional peripheral like the EyeTOY for example.

Yeah. For those of you who don't know or have never met him, Lorne is a tall guy. He also has a hell of a handshake.

If I'd never played a video game before I'd much prefer something that's rectangular and clean-looking than something freaky and spaceship-looking like the current gen controllers.

Remember: if you rotate the Revolution controller 90 degrees, it acts like a normal controller (directional buttons on left, A+B on right).

Xavier 09-26-2005 10:50 AM

actually the IGN shell will also be used to play mainstream games, not only the old ones, and thus will be as effective ast the PS3 or Xbox360 controllers

Sapphire 09-30-2005 03:38 PM

I'm sure it doesn't "mean" anything. LL is a tall guy with big hands, that's all.

Xavier 09-30-2005 11:38 PM

That's my point of view too...
simply since it was Lorne related I reported it here.
