Jesus Christ: had a mental deficiency?

PLEASE DON'T KILL ME CHRISTIANS, I'M JUST THINKING.

People today, if they say they're the son of God, are commonly imprisoned in a mental asylum. Which got me thinking.

Was Jesus Christ just a schizophrenic or weird-brained person with no doctors to tell him that he's odd?

PLEASE DON'T KILL ME CHRISTIANS, I'M JUST THINKING.

NO OFFENSE INTENDED.

Im catholic... *kills you*.
Well, yeah. Thought about this myself.
guess theres no real way to tell, just gotta believe.

I was thinking about that a couple of days ago.

Say, if Christ did back to save all our Souls and he was all "Hey, i'm the son of God, let's get some hijinks thrown down!" he would be put away. Of course, he could just do the miracle thing, but meh.

In regards to his miracles, i do think Mr. Christ may've had the same talents as, say, Derren Brown or some other magician, either that or it was just the persons (who he "cured"/"helped) belief that something was happening which then helped them (like the placebo effect).

...or all the failed "cures" were never put in the Bible.

Haha... thats a nice thought. Very nice indeed...

*Smites.*

If he was insane, I'm pretty sure he wouldn't have made much sense as he did. Considering he never had actual schooling, per say, he seemed pretty together and inteligent in his observations and stuff.

Plus, he also did some of that stuff called miracles a few times...I'm pretty sure that solidifies his position. You know, walking on water, water into wine, healing people, etc. You know the drill.

He also matched all the prophecy-thingies.

Your proof of these miracles?

This thread just turned F*CKING puny...

AVD, please stop spamming.

If you think about it, if someone today acted like Jesus, he would probablty be sent to the looney bin. It's been two thousand years, the world's understanding of goodness has gone into the dumps.

I'm going to trust on the numerous writings of the witnesses.

besides...if someone claiming to be of holier-than-human heritage performed miracles before your eyes, you might be inclined to believe them. I mean, if you're there with, say, you dead daughter, and you know she's dead, and we mean seriously, 100% dead, and then some guy comes in and pats her head and says, "Get up, my child," and then she does. Well, what do you think?

I wonder if Bhuddists and Muslims have to go through this sort of thing regularly...oh, wait...silly me. Just us Christians. How could I forget?

Steal my post entirely from when this thread was full of glory...

Again with no the offense thing, I didn't want to make enemies in this thread. :) Though I have been smited and killed on numerous occasions when this thread was previously alive.

Nepharski brings a valid point. If someone did perform miracles, you would probably be inclined to believe what they're saying. Mostly.

And you just turned into a non sentient being. Just try to rebuild this thread or I will be inclined to murder you and you livestock.

Well, thank you for being so polite...and for partially agreeing with me (There's a first time for everything).

Well, let's take in all of the other religious philosophers and icons like Bhudda and Confucious. They had pretty good teachings and there are religions founded on their beliefs as well. I do not think Confucious was crazy, Bhudda I respect and possible follow his ways some day. But if Jesus never DID perform any miracles, then the Christians probably used:blush: that as a way to get people to join them. As for me, I just hope I end up as an Asura :p.

'I wonder if Bhuddists and Muslims have to go through this sort of thing regularly...oh, wait...silly me. Just us Christians. How could I forget?'

I'd happily question their beliefs if we had any outspoken Bhuds/Muslims on the forum, but from what i'm aware we don't.

Besides, Christian's are safer, bitch about God and they'll just say "Meh, you're going to burn in Hell", however, bitch about Allah and all of a sudden you're having your head hacked off in front of camera...Joy(!)

'I'm going to trust on the numerous writings of the witnesses.'

One could say that how can you trust these writings and witnesses, when the book itself is seething with edits/cuts/mis-leading information?

I like the Bible, though, i'd love to read it all and remember it all, just so at random moments i could quote from it and sound wise.

Well, firstly BUDDHISTS (spell it correctly from now on), don't believe in a God and Buddha didn't preach about God. He taught humililty and respect for humans and animals etc...and never believed that he was 'sent by God' or given messages by God to spread or whatever.

On the other hand, wouldn't Jesus being mentally unstable mean that Muhammed was also mentally deficient? Being atheist, I basically think that what they taught is invalid but it does raise a point.

AngryVyykerDude 09-03-2005 10:31 AM

Back then would you need a mental deficincy to be like that if tha theory is correct?

Why is it that Asian religions such as BUDDHISM and Daoism are the deepest?

They're the only ones who predicted the coming of the pseudo-intellectual.

It depends on what you mean by 'deepest'. Maybe it's because they're the oldest and form more of a part of people's daily lives than other religions.
