This has gone too damn far.

I have not been able to post in some threads of of the late. Example:

Stupid Shit Thread (I have posted 4 times without them showing).
The Stubbs the Zombie thread.
And now, The Smiley Scrolls thread!

I just post, and when I hit submit, it brings me back to the first page of the thread, with no post.

Help me or I'll be forced to something-strike. Or something. :(

Cyber-Slig 08-08-2005 10:25 PM

Yeah, I posted in the WoW thread and the same thing happened. What the shizzit is going on?

Alcar 08-08-2005 11:50 PM

Hmmmmm. Allow me to investigate.

It appears you are using the Munch's Oddysee style. There have been a few issues with that one... so you may want to change that over to another style. I can't exactly say what the problem with it is, thought most likely when we last upgraded, something didn't properly upgrade in the template system.

I don't think that's the solution, Alcar, as I've had the same problem with the Industrial style. I've only had it happen once (in the Work at RuptureFarms art thread), but once is enough to set the alarm bells ringing, so to speak.

Indeed. Especially after writing a few paragraphs. :|

I will try changing styles, see if that works.

EDIT: No sir, I don't like it. Styles do nothing.

Alcar 08-09-2005 01:30 AM

That is indeed weird. My first thought now is that your posts are being added to the moderation queue, but we don't use that (I checked to make sure though).

I checked the vBulletin bugs list, and nothing turned up. Considering more than one person is reporting this problem, I can assume that it might be a server / vBulletin problem. Perhaps upgrading a little ahead of schedule will solve the problem.

However, it could be browser related, what browser are you both using?

I am using IE7, or the most recent one. Time to change to Mozilla, is it?

Alcar 08-09-2005 02:39 AM

Yes! Mozilla FireFox is THE best browser.

Hah! IE6 is the best I say! *backwards technology usage*

I hope Alcar has solved your problem. :)

I have that problem too, with IE7. But I ain't gonna change browsers just for that. Instead, I use the big ol' reply button underneath a thread. That still works...

SeaRex 08-09-2005 07:38 AM

I've had that problem in Safari, but only using the quick reply.

Luckily, when I press the back button on the browser, everything I typed is still in the message box, so I can copy it. Once I go to the full Reply button and paste in my post, it seems to work just fine.

But yeah, I've had this problem too.

Well, I use FireFox, and I also get the problem. Mostly in the WARF RPG art thingy, so i don't think it's a browser-problem.

... But yes, Firefox IS the best browser out there:fuzcool: Ur like so uncool if you don't have it :P J/K

Alcar 08-09-2005 04:13 PM

Hang on, some of you are saying you have IE7... So, you managed to get the Beta? Anyway, besides being riddled with bugs, it's... IE! What is wrong with you people!

Perhaps it is a server thing, to do with large threads. It hasn't happened to me yet though, however it did used to happen to me years ago.

Okay, now this is weird, I'm using Industrial view, but it just gave me near administrative access, needed a password though. Can someone tell what is go8ing on? New n' Tasty? I dobn't know whether to feel endowed or just like the child of some hooker in Vegas.

Alcar 08-09-2005 11:53 PM

You don't have near administrative access. That forum is specifically password protected. Everyone will see that page except for those who know the password to get it.

Aww, damn it! Well whats it doing there then?

Alcar 08-10-2005 02:49 AM

It's a secret.

Ssshhh.

Actually I also lost a post in the W@RF art thread and a month or two before Christmas several posts disappeared from one of my stories!
As in a chapter and the replies i got to it, but then more posts afterwards were unaffected., just a group of maybe 5 posts that had wiped away.
I am using IE, not sure what version. I tried using firefox a few months ago but it drove me insane. It took me ages to get all the settings installed and then it would hardly let me change the website without making me install a load more stuff! SO i switched back again and everything was fine.
Except these mysterious missing posts!

And now, The Smiley Scrolls thread!

Actually now you mention it, I tried posting in that earlier. It just took me back to the first page and didn't add my post. :( It seems that certain threads are getting ****ed for everyone. *Prays the amusing off-topic threads don't go bust*

Alcar 08-11-2005 12:46 AM

Perhaps it will be better to upgrade sooner rather than later. Although I can't garauntee it'll fix the problem.
