Canadian Idol
 

Iw as walking in this huge mall in Toronto when I saw it, American Idol Canadianized. This has got to be the weirdest american influence on foreing countries by far. I was :lol:ing my pants off. I can't believe the Canadian Media is doing this though, oh well. You?

Umm... American Idol is not an original idea. Have you ever heard of Pop Idol? Variations of Pop Idol are everywhere now.

No I haevn't, hoiw old are you Mojo? I'm not trying to be offensive, I'm just wondering if Pop Idol is from a different generation. If it isn't, than it never came to my community. And didn't American Idol really innovate this kind of thing?

Pop Idol was the first Idol thing around, and it was created in Britain a few years ago. Then America made their own version, American Idol was born. Now the same is in Canada. I don't honestly like them, so I couldn't care if anyone copies our idea.

As for your ''innovation'' thing, yes, it did in a way. But that tends to be because America is way bigger than UK, and many people think America is like the center of the Universe, therefore they pay allot of attention to it.

Yeah, I watch the BBC sometimes, America has copied SO many of your programs. What not to wear, Changing Rooms, without prejudice, etc..

Sorry if I'm being blaby, but I rarely get these points out.

Like everyone said, Pop Idol, with Simon Cowel [sp?], Dr. Fox and that lady, was first. It took the idea from Popstars with Hear'say *shudder* which miserably failed.

Since then, Japanese Idol, French Idol, American Idol. You name it, it's an - Idol.

There's also [now in the UK] X-Factor. With Sharon Osbourne, Louis Walsh and Simon Cowl [sp?].

Get rich quick schemes like this don't work, all the winners slowly fade into oblivion.

Pop Idol and rip-offs of it suck anyway. Idols suck in general, Rexy is my idol and she certainly sucks. :p

I only watched Pop Idol cos it had Ant & Dec in it. I would leave when a song came on.

No, I just know some guys from Canada and I tease them about the name and such, they don't really care for Canada either

I don't think every reality TV show sucks (even though 99.9% do). I mean obviously things like Big Brother and Idol are ridiculous, but some shows like America's Next Top Model are fun to watch.

I think the UK Big-Brother is okay to a degree. But I watched American BB and I was totally lost. You have to win trials and the winner, each week, can evict someone and then 3 people were sent back into the house, and people are being bichy and then they were in a cage for some odd reason. [Or that's how I got the jist of it...]

Uk BB is simple, easy to manage. People are set one task a week, someone is evicted once a week. That's it. Simple, I tell ya! Simple!
