anyone no wot i mean? |
I guess, Where did Stranger come from. He's basicly a bountyhunter who hunts bounties for a living.Lorn probably wanted him to be like some mysterious guy, and he is.
|
"Some say's he's from the rivers. Others say he's from the mountains. He dresses like he's got something to hide. Legend has it that he came from them thar hills, or those that fjords. But the fact is, no one knows where this Stranger came from".
Off the Stranger's Wrath official website. And it's simple to figure what I said: No one knows. No one knows... I wish I knew where he came from... |
Stranger lives on a whole other continent than Abe or Munch. No wonder the settings are all different. Different habits, different lifestyle (and beings).
|
Yup. Munch an' Abe were like, in Native lands, and Stranger was in...um...western lands...I guess.
|
No one knows where he is from, but Abe, Much, and Stranger all led their tales on Mudos. Stranger led his on Western Mudos.
|
Actually, I remember Lorne saying that Stranger's story takes place a little while after Munch's stories end.
|
well we don't know where stranger comes from, thats why hes called stranger (simple enough isn't it?)
the reasons there are no sligs, slogs, mudokons, etc is because its in a totally different place from the other ones. its not part of the quintology. P.s, have you played SW? |

Abe and Munch are on the same continent as the Stranger: Mudos, simply not on the same place,
SW takes place a bit after the end of MO |
Stranger takes place in southern Mudos where the inhabitants are similar but different. Stranger is a Steef who were great guardians to the Grubs at one point in history. I am sure Stranger was at one time one of the river folk liveing in the high mountains of Mongo Valley. I believe Steefs, Grubs, Scuba Toads etc are the River Folk. I believe Mongo Valley is the Steef's native habitat. I don't believe they live anywhere else but there which makes them extremely rare. I believe that the Clackerz, and Outlaws and Minions and the rest are all invaders from the west of the River Folks home. Except for maybe the Octigi and the Glocktigi. They seem like they would live everywhere.
|
I agree with you PA... Steefs seem to live only near the mongo river.
thus that's where the Stranger's from. he might have been hidden somewhere else the last months tough :p |
Very good, PA, except you got south and west mixed up. :p Mongo Valley is in the West (it's a Western setting, after all), and Clakkerz come from the South of Mudos.
It's obvious Stranger comes from the Mongo Valley - that's where all Steef come from. What is more of a quandary is what sort of a life he led before the start of the game. He doesn't like guns, so it follows he knows his fellow Steef were hunted and shot, and that he possibly knew them and was part of their society: but maybe he was rejected from their society because he's too scrawny, and no use as a guardian of the Grubbs. So he built his own crossbow to protect him against Outlaws, then someone suggested he accepts bounties from Clakker Bounty Stores. Whatever happened, it just seems like there's quite a backstory missing. |
lol
im noticeing u lot are takeing wot i said so literaly lol i ment wot brout him into the oddworld games its not like some muds at the baggining was talking about him or something it just swiches from abe and munch to this guy called stranger O.O

Oh, well that's a simple question to answer, even if the answer itself is complicated. Truth be told, Munch's Oddysee wasn't what it should have been. Despite all his big ideas for the epic, Lorne was let down by technology inhibiting how much content he could put in the game. Sadly, the finished article was a let down for fans, critics and gamers, and that broke Lorne's heart, so he decided to take a break from the Quintology and wait for technology to advance to a state where he didn't need to make so many sacrifices to the story and gameplay.
In the meantime OWI thought that their next game should jump on the bandwagon and take advantage of the popularity of first-person shooters. A setting was crafted around the Mongo River, an idea that didn't make it to Munch's Oddysee, and a story was written coupling Lorne's admiration for people who let racism roll off their back and his hatred of dams. That's pretty much where Stranger comes from, my friend. |
