The Meaning Of Life?
What's the meaning of life? A guy asked himself that question over 2,000 years ago but he didn't told anyone. So I'm asking the same thing, and my answer is to live it! There can't be any other way then to live life, right?
|
:
Besides, that doesn't make sense. Billions of people have asked themselves that question. I don't know what the meaning of life is, nobody does for sure. My belief is that the meaning of life is different for each person. And living life isn't really a meaning, so much as a purpose. In conclusion, this thread is rather weird. |
No, english is not my first language, the reason that my english is not that good is because, the teachers considered me stupid, and therefore didn't bother or tried to teach me some or explain it in a way I can understand.
I dont think that it's a purpose to live life, you just live. And there must be a meaning with that, then simply, live life is my simple answer to meaning with life. |
I think it depends per person. For one its a test; Are you worthy for a spot in heaven? For the other it's just something that's there.
I myself live my life by the day and see what it brings me (sitting behind the computer all day long, YAY!) but I deffinatly don't try to keep my live straigt so I can get a place in heaven (which I don't believe in anyway. Il take hell, much warmer there anyway :P). My life purpose is to realize my dreams. And thats also my biggest fear. Dieing before I had a chance to do so. |
To procreate.
|
Yes! YES! That IS the main purpose of life. But for a semi evolved species, I guess life doesn't really have a meaning. But I believe the meaning of life is what you choose it to be.
|
I don't think the meaning of life is to just live, just because we do. You could say that the meaning of life is to die, just because everyone dies.
I think that it's different for each person. And you can't define the meaning of life... Spooky. :p - Rexy |
I have a very different opinion to the last 'Meaning Of Life' thread that came along...:
'What is the meaning of life?' is profound crap. There isn't. [/fin] Happy? |
If it's not to just simply live life, then what can it be? To make something out of it?
|
Well, for me it's just: Live your life like you want to. B-)
|
Well, all I can tell you is: You've only got (at the most) 80-100 years. Live it up.
|
I'll probably get hit by a bus or something, on my way to school, so i dont think i have long time left :p
|
Ooh, ooh, I know the meaning of life! As in for real!
And I would say sorry for bringing religion into this, but unfortunately I'm not. We were created to share paradise and to be happy for God. THe purpose of life is to be happy, and also to please God! We're just really bad at it. On a lighter note, better things are to come! the suffering's all worthwhile when you think that some day that purpose will be fullfilled completely! I for one, can't wait. And for those who dissagree with me, I sinscerely hope you all come to see the truth before the time to fulfill the purpose is here. God bless, Splat. |
Well, if I believed ibn god, I would think that everyone who was good, kind, and generous in life would go to heaven.
|
There is no meaning of life. There is no masterplan.
*Quotes Oasis* "It's up to us to make the best of all the things that come our way" "There's 4 and 20 million doors, on life's endless corridor" "All we know is that we don't know how it's gonna be" |
I don't think there's a meaning of life, and if there is, then whoever created it is a retard because no one knows what it is.
Life is a waste of time in my opinion. I'm not thinking of quitting or anything, but existing through a period of time to see people you know and love die doesn't seem very pointful to me. |
Make babies, dont let the human race die out.
|
And after extensive research I am now able to answer this question in full. And if doesn't settle it, nothing will.

Well, that's one way to answer, Splat. :D
Meaning of life? Probably thinking about this question in all our lives. If not, just having a life as good as possible. |
:
Meh, I think each individual has an unique purpose, but I think the majority of the people rarely fulfill their main reason for living. Or something. I also believe there are lots of other little reasons for living--both logical and spiritual-ish. |

Forty Two.
(I can't believe nobody else did that) |
^^ lol well done for saying it first Dino. And my thought on the meaning of life are:
Live to the full, enjoy life, acomplish your dreams, continue the species. That pretty much sums up what I think of the meaning of life. |
I think Dino's answer is the best so far. Honestly.
The meaning of life shouldn't be some inane single sentence or trite moral or anything like that. It should be more complex, and it should be different for everyone. For instance, Splat's meaning of life (the first one he posted :p), though meaningful to him and certainly a valid opinion, is meaningless to me because we have very different beliefs. I don't have an opinion about the meaning of life. I wish I did. I'm not even sure that life has a meaning. Maybe one is supposed to make it up one's self. |
:
I really don't see the problem discussing the meaning of life. The meaning is what you make it, I guess. I just don't think there is one. And if we found one, what would you do next? Almighty Being: The meaning of life is: Have fun. Person: Oh. Great. |
Not thinking life has a meaning must be so depressing... I pity you guys.
It's the problem with evolution and the big bang and such: if life was an acccident, that alone sounds depressing. But if it was an accident, what's the point of carrying it on? if this was all chance then why do we instinctively keep living? There would be no point to being alive and no point for any human or animal race to be so desperate to stay alive. if life happened by chance then why is the meaning of life to be to reproduce? If this existence was chance then the total extinction of life wouldn't be a catastrophe. There has to be a cause or there would be no purpose, and if there's no purpose then why should life carry on? |
Well, would you rather be dead? Not ever existing, not experiencing the goods and bads of life? When you think about it that way, life may be meaningless, but it's a lot better than the alternative.
|
:
Why should there be a meaning of life? I summed up my life in my profile and that's a good enough life for me, no-one else can tell me what to do with it. |
:
Those who look poorly on life will face a harder existance in the after life. And those who don't believe in the after life, whoe to you for that is a very un wise assumption. Spite of the fact that we have no scientific evidence of an after life does not mean it doesn't exist. Its a matter of faith and science can't prove that. If only we as humans can view life in 4 demensions we would understand what its like to be God. And we would get a glimps at the battle around us. If we saw in 4 demensions we would not be able to handle such power for very long. Thats what makes God so amazeing. I for one know there is an after life because my faith tells me so. And I speak with loved ones who has passed. That can't be explane because God has made it so. |
