Elder Scrolls IV

GOMGOOGM OGM GMO! An XBox360 box shot of Oblivion!

Click and look, or death is wished upon you.

It's near the top, eedoites. An odd colour scheme for such a dark name...

Oh yeah, and there are some new-ish screens for you to devour.

EDIT: Ok, big, big version now.

*squeals*Eeeeee! It is so going to stand out on the shelves. With all the crowded box covers and then...this. I'm happy. ^^And the screens, look at the screens! They're so wonderfully magically detailed. I am definately getting Xbox360. It's no longer a question. *runs around with hyper happiness*

Kimon 07-29-2005 07:01 AM

YAy 4 Teh EldUh SCRollZ!!!!11!!1

I'm phsyced. :p

SeaRex 07-29-2005 07:46 AM

I hear it ships in America on 11/01/05. I can't wait.

If it's anything like Morrowind (and as of now, it looks even better), it should be the only game I need to hold me off until Gears of War and RE5.

Jarnww 08-08-2005 03:12 PM

Yea, Morrowind for Xbox is my all-time favorite game, but all of my friends whined about how bad the graphics were. I have been waiting a long time for this, and I CAN'T WAIT! I COULD TEAR A WALL APART TO GET THIS GAME! NO! FIFTY WALLS! ALL TITANIUM WITH MY BARE HANDS! RRRRRUUUUUUUAAAA!!!!!

Yea, I'm psyched.

Leto 08-08-2005 08:57 PM

Same here. :lick:

Who's leg I gotts hump for some more new screens around here?

Oddfan 08-12-2005 08:26 AM

I'm in love with it already the only rpg's I'll ever play has been the elder scrolls games and I'm in love with them all, I was dissapointed cause I heard the next one would only be available for pc, but now I see this excellent news, now all I have to do is raise 500$ for the system and another 50$ for the game.... damn I'm broke, guess I'll have to start dealing again haha.

MojoMan220 08-12-2005 05:43 PM

:

now all I have to do is raise 500$ for the system

I'm not entirely sure about this, but I think it will cost $300 like the first one. Can anybody varify this, I don't feel like looking it up.

SeaRex 08-12-2005 05:50 PM

Rumor says $299. I don't believe a word of it, but it would be groovy if it only cost that much.

Also, I've put down $390 for an Xbox360 reservation, so if the rumor is true, that means I'll get to spend the remaining $91 on faceplates and useless peripherals! Hoo-yeah!

Of course, Oblivion, along with most other next-gen games, will most likely cost around $60-70. Ah, the days of the N64 are back.

Oddfan 08-13-2005 07:16 AM

I've hear alot of rumors saying it's going to be more expensive, but even at 300 dollars.... oh well I got the xbox myself I'll get this, but damn the even more expensive games!

Dark Oddworld 08-18-2005 09:10 AM

Yay I just got The Elder Scrolls Three: Morrwind for my computer even though I have it on Xbox. My god was it cheap I got it for ten dollers...

Leto 08-18-2005 12:44 PM

Yeah, I noticed that too. Now it's a budget title. But you don't get mega kewl case it used to come with.

Click here for new Elder Scrolls box update. Like, OMG, it's on an angle. ^_^

Shrink 08-18-2005 12:52 PM

I'm somewhat disappointed in the name 'Oblivion'. I wanted it to be a name like 'Morrowind'.

If you hear Morrowind, at any time, in any place, you know exactly what it is referring to: The Elder Scrolls IV. It simply feels like a better name, there's nothing special about 'Oblivion'.

Leto 08-18-2005 01:32 PM

They could call it The Elder Scrolls: Hell, but that would spark religious arguement...

Shrink 08-18-2005 01:40 PM

And it would be an even worse name than Oblivion.

Kimon 08-18-2005 01:51 PM

Plus, Oblivion isn't Hell, it's just the place where the Daedric Princes are from. Bad people don't go there when they die.

As for the name, it couldn't have been too many other things, considering the plotline. TES: Cyrodiil, and TES: The Lost Heir could have been used, but the latter would have ruined the one-name TES game theme, and the first would have been a wee bit too unimaginative, I think. But whatever. I'm fine with "Oblivion".

Leto 08-18-2005 02:38 PM

Same here. Oblivion-ness. But, Daedria I say are demons, so U liEK ShUT up Z0r! I'm just saying it does highly resemble hell, from what I've heard.

SeaRex 09-18-2005 09:12 AM

Is there an official, concrete release date for this thing yet? I haven't heard a single word about it since the 11/01 rumor.

I'm still hoping for Oblivion to be released at launch.

Kimon 09-18-2005 10:46 AM

:

Nay, but I'd say it's pretty much guarenteed that it'll be in the release date launch window. Should most likely be out in November.

Ooh, me's excited! Only a few months left! :D

Jarnww 09-19-2005 05:37 PM

November is my birthday month.

Xbox 360 is coming out in November.

Put the pieces together, children.

:P

Kimon 10-02-2005 06:17 AM

Woot woot!

Video of the demo. The "official version" will be released in a week or so. :D

EDIT: Bettah linkage!!

SeaRex 10-02-2005 08:26 AM

I talked to a big, manager-type person at EB Games the other day. He says that, so far, ESIV is slated to be released as a launch title. Yay! I hope he is correct. However...

*slight disappointment*

I'm a little annoyed that you have to form your character's skills by traversing through this first dungeon. The main thing I liked about Morrowind was that I could hand-pick all of my classes to form a unique character.

I didn't get very far into the demo; did he mention custom character classes at all?

It's quite probable. As long as it's out by Kris-mus, I'm set.

Ahh, your dissapointment is misplaced. Through traversing the dungeoun, you get a feel of how the game plays, and at the end of the "tutorial" you get a suggestion as to what class you should play. You can still hand-pick all your skills n' stats. :D

:

No, but they're there.

I recommend watching the entire thing, it's absolutely fabulous. Especially the combat and magic in the dungeon. Dang it's cool. :p

Ever wonder where "Oblivious" came from?

http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=oblivion

It's just another word for a realm, place, or state in which things are or someone is forgotten.

....?

I guess that describes the Oblivion of TES pretty well, but... where did that come from?

Where did what come from? My post?

If that's what you meant then it came from me noticing that there seemed to be some disagreement over the meaning of the word, which was important to discovering the reason why that word was chosen as the name.

Oblivion is sometimes used in reference to a kind of destruction that involves removing something from the known universe by sending it to a place where it will never be retrieved or it cannot escape.
