I don't have the smileys (Sp?) box for some reason and I don't have them disabled neather. I do have the icons on the bottom but the side where the smiley box should be just has the black backround.

The text editor settings might have changed for some random reason. Just go to the User CP and change it for the advanced WYSIWYG editor.

I remember something like this happened ages ago. It changed for some unknown reason but I don't think it was changed back. I've never seen it back since then anyway.
