The corpse bride.

Just saw a preview for Tim Burton's (Nightmare Before Christmas, Edward Scissorhands, etc.) new movie, The Corpse Bride, and it looks pretty good.
Anyone thinkin of seeing this?

Yeah, I saw that preview on Adult Swim last night too. Can't say I'll want to see it in public though....for reasons of my own. I think Tim Burton is a very good film maker however.

Conker_Rocket 07-07-2005 06:49 AM

I thought that was going to be a T.V. series?

Abeguy 07-07-2005 06:56 AM

Idiot, kinda, looks awesome

Nope, gonna be a movie, had the little green with white text "this preview has been blah" before it.

Besides, that animation is too good to be a cheap TV series.

Fuzzle Guy 07-07-2005 09:38 AM

Burton seems to like Johny Depp, first scissor Hands, then Wonka, now this. It looks like it could have a connection with Aardman. Yes, I would like to go and see it

Well, Johnny Depp does fit with a lot of different kinds of characters.

TheRaisin 07-07-2005 12:51 PM

You forgot Sleepy Hollow.

If I had seen this preview of which you all speak (DAMN YOU for not telling me beforehand, I missed it), I might be more certain about whether or not I'm going to see it. Some of Burton's films are obviously somewhat... kid-oriented. If it's too kid-oriented, I'll just rent it when it comes out on DVD. More anonymity that way. Hell of a lot cheaper, too.

Exactly, I love Burtons film making, but when I went to see HP3 last year, the ENTIRE theatre was filled with crying kids. I dont want to be in a room like that ever again.

TheRaisin 07-07-2005 12:55 PM

HP3? For the love of God, just type it out. I'm getting sick of all these incomprehensible abbreviations.

Burton uses several other actors repeatedly than just Depp. Two examples off the top of my head: Danny DeVito and Christopher Walken. He also likes using Danny Elfman for music. I find it interesting.

Anywho, being the big fan of the Nightmare Before Christmas (and most other Burton films) that I am, I shall definitely be seeing this. The only preview I've seen for it was a small on on the internet. Looks like it will have the same spooky yet cute-ness as the Nightmare Before Christmas.

Dipstikk 07-07-2005 05:23 PM

Oy.

And I'll bet Hot Topic'll assrape this one, too.

You're mine now, bitch!

Is this film like a sequal too the Nightmare Before Christmas? Because I heard some music in the preview that was from it.

TheRaisin 07-07-2005 09:08 PM

It is most definitely not. It's loosely based on an old Russian folk tale about...

I'm not going to possibly give anything away. Google it if'n you're interested.

SeaRex 07-08-2005 02:18 AM

I was thoroughly impressed by the preview. It seems Burton has perfected the stop-motion animation he used in Nightmare.

So I'm really looking forward to this one. Maybe even more than Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

Hehehe... I giggle at Dip's quotes.

Boring.

If we keep up with this trend of making dull threads about movies an shit I'll have to make another controversial debate topic. And next time it might be about holocaust denial!

a flock of seagulls 07-08-2005 05:50 AM

Wow, Dino is trying to argue, i was completely surprised! i never saw it coming!

Statikk HDM 07-08-2005 07:50 AM

Denying the Holocaust is like punching yourself in the nuts. It hurts, and it makes you look insane.
This movie does look good, as long as a lot of big time goth assholes don't show up and ruin my 7 dollar experience.
That is a pretty big as, though. Like a "yo momma" sized as.

ANN NEELY 07-08-2005 05:34 PM

Damn, this really looks awesome, I will have to see it when it comes out in theaters. I am a big fan of Tim Burton's work.

I for one really liked Danny Elfman's music in Nightmare Before Christmas. I'm glad it didn't use one single motif as most musicals do.
