Sapphire's Oddworld Art, pt.2

Well, since my thread drifted off into the nether regions of Dead threads, I'll be a pest and post my new one as a new thread, and, I suppose, a little teaser for the upcoming web comic I'm working on as a part of Slogmeat. There will be a pair of comics, mine being the more detailed, less-often released one, and both sagas will be connected. It's going to be awesome, hopefully you guys will enjoy it as much as I've had fun conceptualizing it with Elodie and the other Slogmeat artist. :)

A color test, and playing with silhouette.

All I see is the Red X of Doom, but thanks! (Deviantart doesn't allow remote linking, sadly.)

Oddish 06-16-2005 11:48 AM

Wow, that is striken. I like the atmosphere, the use of those colours are superb.

Elodie 06-16-2005 02:33 PM

Oh you think that's good? Wait until you see some of the character designs she's been doing.

*drools*

And you actually will have to wait, how could we possibly reveal any of the major characters at such soon date?! Hehe.

Oh my God...that piece of art is so beautiful! :D I love the mood that you've set for it-oh, so dark and mysterious! It's great, Sapphire-I really love it!

Sapphire 06-17-2005 11:04 AM

Thanks guys!

Everyone's using that little artpad program, so since I was bored this morning I decided to fiddle with it. Here's a mudokon shaman for you.

Munch's Master 06-17-2005 11:21 AM

Wow. That's an artpad drawing? That is very very good, you have real artistic talent.

odd chick 06-17-2005 07:37 PM

Wow, that artpad drawing is really good-I can honestly say that I could never draw something as well as you have drawn that shaman. Nice work! :)

The Marching Mudokon 06-17-2005 10:13 PM

Newscaster sculpt

I thought I'd post an in-progress picture of the newest Oddworld art I'm working on: a newscaster slig made of super sculpey! I had this crazy wild urge to get my hands dirty with clay, and I really wanted to try super sculpey, so I thought I would try something familiar, but difficult. I'm not done, but there's definitely a few hours put into it already.

That looks awesome Sapphire!
Cant wait to see the finished version

Dipstikk 07-18-2005 11:42 AM

Like I said before, Saph, you rule the school.

My only crit is that he looks a little wobbly, especially around the legs.

monkeybait 07-18-2005 11:58 AM

HOLY CRAP

THAT IS AWESOME! :)

EDIT: There ya go, Dipsh- er stikk

THAT IS AWESOME GUYS
:)!!!1!!!1!!!one!!!!!!!!11!!!eleven!!!

First off, don't do the 1111one crap. It's unnecesary, annoying as hell, and spam. Spamming is against the rules.

Secondly, it's not "guys." This is Saph's thread, tell her that.

That is all.

Sapphire 07-18-2005 05:19 PM

Thanks, guys!

dipstikk: yeah, it's all wobbly, cause I haven't really gotten around to the detail yet. I was still trying to lump the sculpey into a satisfactory overall shape, and I'm still trying to figure out what I could use to straighten it all out. If I smooth one area, I end up getting my fingers in another, and thus, the lumpies march around my figure. Any tips?

Dipstikk 07-18-2005 05:45 PM

I actually have no idea. You might ask Pzak, he's a professional.

Wow...Seriously I don't have any other words for that. All I can hope is to definately see more of your work my friend. :)
