GCSEs
Out of interest, who's doing their GCSEs at the moment?
|
I've done a 25% science exam. Are you in year 10 or 11?
|
I got one on 29 of June, maths.
|
Well, year 11, obviously.
I mean like all your GCSEs, not those ones you do early (Like Business studies or ICT) |
No, I am year 10 so I have year 10 exams this year, not GCSEs. But I have done a science exam that counts 25% towards the mark. My year 10 exams are coming up in a few weeks.
|
I'm doing mine. My higher maths paper was impossible, and my french ones have been annoying, but everything else i believe i have succeeded in so far
|
I've been doing mine over the past few weeks. My most recent one was an English test, poems from different cultures. But the last question was to describe a nightmare world. It was the best test question I've ever had. Very enjoyable :)
|
"My higher maths paper was impossible"
That is SO encouraging. Thank you for that. :-) lol "the last question was to describe a nightmare world" Hey, yeah, I did that one yesterday. What was your nightmare world like, then? |
Long, twisty roads. Corpses scattered around, mauled and dismembered. A deserted village with a cloaked figure holding someone over a well, shortly before dropping them.
You know, the usual. |
Mine was a village/town too.
|
Mine was actually a big ass world and i just discribed it a lot with evil and schtuff.
I found the third english exam a lot harder than the other two, which were stupidly easy in my opinion. Tsk! |
You thought the thrid one was the hardest?
No way man, creative writing is so much easier than analitical writing |
The literacy exam for OM&M was too easy though. Lonliness? Come on..
|
...The what now?
lol We did one on the book we'd done (To Kill a Mockingbird) and two poems (By Armitage and Duffy) One on two sources (One about cars, and one about americans being fat), with a persuade, argue, or advise question at the end. And the last one on Poems from different cultures, and the describing or writing a letter (Nightmare world, Yeah!) |
We studied Of Mice And Men. And did a little question on that. Too easy.
|
Oh yeah. I hear thats weird...
About Hilly-Billy miners or something? lol |
Yeah, close enough:)
|
Ours is all about racism, and social status, and America...and stuff...
Ergh, maths, chemistry, and maths again from wednesday onwards... |
I've done a few exams [year 10 though] I did my 25% science. My 20% Mathmatics. And I'm currently doing my 6 hour practical drama coursework worth 20%. Fun.
Next year's gonna be hell... |
I dont think I had any 20%-early kind of exams...
Well, not including Coursework. |
Finished my exams today. Major w00t with beer!
|
:
I have year 10 exams next week, wish me luck. ;) |

|
I think the only hard one will be higher tier maths, which is always a fucker.
|
Sorry to be a typical American idiot, but what are GCSE's? I gather they're like some kind of formal country-wide exam, right? For college, high school, what?
In America we have Regents Exams and SAT's. |
GCSE's are taken over 2 years of high school. They are courses that end in examinations. These courses begin when you are 14/15 and end when you are 16. I am doing the halfway exams now while Hobo has just finished the final big ones.

|
Oh, okay. So you'd take a GCSE Physics course for a semester and then you'd have an exam?
I think that's simliar to AP courses in America then. |
:
Chem and bio were miles easier though. And i did absolutly bugger all revision for anything. WOO! |
Same here. I kept thinking to myself "I've got to revise!" But when the time came to revise, I'd just put it off for another time and I ended up not doing it. The only revision I ended up doing was for my History test and it turned out I revised the wrong things.
