Does anyone know any good female Rock Groups?
Rock, Alternative Rock, Grunge?
Because I cant find any decent groups at all |
Tsunami Bomb
The Eyeliners The Soviettes ... are all terrible bands that sound exactly alike, but they're pretty much all you'll find in the way of "Pseudo-mainstream pop-punk girl" bands. |
...so why would I want to know about them?
lol :-P |
Garbage kicks arse. Their lead singer is a woman.
Splashdown also kicks arse. Their lead singer is a woman. Dunno about the rest of the band. Ehm... that's all I can think of off the top of my head. How sad. *goes to look for images of Splashdown* |
The only one I can think of is Hole. Courtney Love is the lead singer. That's Grunge-ish. I don't really like them, but whatevah.
|
The Distillers. The classic punk theme is nice, even if they're probably manufactured commercial crap.
|
Ash has a female guitarist.
What does it matter what gender the band is anyway? |
It dosnt really.
It'd just be nice to hear at least 1 female voice on my MP3 player that isnt being prank called by the jerky boys. |
I hear Kitty are supposed to be quite good.

|
Due to certain events in my social life, I dont think I can tell my friends that there is a band in my collection called Kitty. :-P
(Dont ask) |
Toy Dolls
The only thing i like about the distillers is brodie ;) |
Garbage.
Garbage. Garbage. Garbage. Garbage. Garbage. Garbage. Garbage. Garbage. Garbage. Garbage. Garbage. Garbage. Garbage. Garbage. Garbage. Garbage. Garbage. Garbage. Garbage. Garbage. Garbage. Garbage. Garbage. Garbage. Garbage. Garbage. Garbage. Garbage. Garbage. Garbage. Garbage. Garbage. Garbage. Garbage. Garbage. Garbage. Did I mention: Garbage? They SO rock! Alcar... |

Yeah, I've heard them on the radio. There's a new one they keep playing called "Why do you love me?" It's not my favorite song, it sounds like some re-animated 80's song. |
:
The only bands I could have said in this thread have already been mentioned by Luke--Tsunami Bomb and the Soviettes. I'm pretty familiar with Tsunami, and I think they're pretty okay, at least worthy of putting on an mp3 player for the sake of having some female vocals for a change to listen to. As for the Soviettes, I've only heard one song, which I like. However, they do sound extremely similar to Tsunami Bomb. Oh, there's the Donnas or something like that. I completely hate them, but who knows, you could like them. |

I don't know about any good female rock bands, but Laurie Anderson is rather good. No sexism intended, but I just haven't found any great female rock bands. Evanescence are ok, but they're just an American, Christian Within Temptation. Wait, Within Temptation are good... |
there aren't very many all-girl bands that are very good.
not for lack of talent, just lack of trying. but bands that include girls as prominent members that are good include: the lapse all natural lemon & lime flavors my bloody valentine stars the arcade fire adult. a silver mt. zion/godspeed you! black emperor black cat#13/femme fatale/the sick lipstick fisticuffs bluff MIA sonic youth teenage jesus & the jerks lydia lunch VCR x-ray spex melt banana free kitten slowdive massive attack mew dressy bessy denali blonde redhead the 6th solo: hannah marcus elizabeth anka vajagic peaches there are a lot more. |
Please god. Please god, don't let anyone ever refer to Kitty as being or having ever been good.
Please god. |
Veruca Salt, I think, was composed almost entirely of women. They weren't... terrible. They had a certain style that you might find appealing, or you might not. I think one or two of them are in The Breeders now, judging by the voices. The Breeders completely suck ass.
|
Well, to me, "Good Girl Bands" is an oxymoron....
....But that is just me. |
99.9 percent of the time I have to agree with you.
|
Hole.
L7. Chicks on Speed. I don't care if any of you aleady mentioned any of these bands. |
Hole? Really?
|
Why would you want to listen to woman singers? Don't you get enough of women in real life?
/guy singers PWN //girl singers aren't half as good. ///4 Hole mentions but no shout-out for Heart. I'm tryin',tryin',tryin' to understand, but I just CAaAAANT. |
I've recently discovered a Japanese, all girl band that I absolutely adore: Shonen Knife. They have basically the exact bubblegum-punk sound and style of lyrics as the Ramones. Heck, they've even done a cover of "I wanna be sedated". Also, they used the tune of "Blitzkrieg Bop" for a song they made for the PowerPuff Girls soundtrack.
Warning: Some songs may be a bit too cute. But if you like the Ramones, check them out. |
