Holy crap (in my personal view)
http://news.teamxbox.com/xbox/8356/P...l-Immortality/
PS5 to allow digital immortality, something on how the playstation 5 will be built like a brain and how you can like download you brain stuff into it or something |
Dang, technolegy is going high tech! But what about a PS4? or, is that out of the question?
|
lol, I love how their predicting PS5 when PS3 isn't even out.
But I would say, it is possible. In hospitals, they have machines to help patients with brain trauma that's like a game. It's basically Pong, but you control the ball, not the bar, with your mind. It's really neat. (I dunno why they're doin it for Brain Trauma and everything, I just know that they are doing it) |
powerfull as a human brain?
then it will be able to make hatred and kill off the human race. then it will start evolving, develop a time machine, and kill the Human Leader of Earth. |
Immortality, you say? *grins schemingly*
Soon, I can begin my conquest of the entire world! MUAHAHAHAHA! Sweet, a way to prevent me from dying. I mean, by then I'll be a senile old man anyway, but still, it would be great! I'd sit there all day jabbering with my other computer buddies about those damn kids on my desktop. |

Somehow, I don't think it will happen.

If this concept trips your wire check out the cyberpunk book Altered Carbon. Good stuff.
|
Yes, I heard of this quite some time ago. But it's not the PS5, Sony just copywrighted this.
Yes, Sony just copywrighted the IDEA of transmitting data to your brain. No prototype, no blue prints, nout :O. It's just a money scam so no one else can use this idea without going through Sony. EDIT: PS5 as powerful as the human brain? Excuse my French, but that's a crock of shit. |
Playstation 7
Just to see if I could upstage AbeGuy ( I kid, I kid)
Did you know that Sony plan to make the Playstation 7 with Bio-technology? In OPS2 magazine a while back there was something making fun of the statement with a digitally remastered picture of a slab of Beef with controller ports and a disc tray. A living console. Where. Is. The. Need? |
One word;
ExistenZ. |
Funny how they're already theorizing about the PS 7 when the PS 3 isn't even out yet.
|
PS3 may not be out yet, but if their consoles continue to sell like hot cakes, you can be sure that Sony won't let the franchise die. Unless of course we go into the past to kill the leaders of the future. O.o

so they did, as shown here: http://www.oddworldforums.net/showthread.php?t=12231 so then they said "hey, why not predict PS7?" so they did |
Speaking as someone who is studying Artificial Intelligence at the moment (exam on monday, why the heck am I wasting time online?) it's never going to happen. In fact I may just repeat that capitalised: IT'S NEVER FUCKING GOING TO HAPPEN. The fact is that whilst computers are getting more and more powerful, no-one yet knows how the brain even works so until we can have a way of scanning every single neuron and all the complex connections between them (we're talking in the order of each and every neuron being connected to 10,000 others) and then somehow simulating that, it aint gonna happen.
Sorry to burst your bubble. In any case, Sony can't patent an idea without the technology to back it up (we're also learning about patents ATM, exam on wednesday) and it would be stupid to do it now even if it could because patents only last 20 years and by the time the technology has caught up with the concept the patent will have run out. |
Read the frigging article.
Nothing to do with the PS7. Nothing to do with what technology is planned for it. They're just using the playstation as a handy benchmark to demonstrate the advances in technology. Grow up. |
Is this gonna be like hovercars and never come. Because that'd be amusing when all we get is another shiny box and a copy of Grand Tourismo 34. Oh how we'll laugh. Until the giant lizards send us back down the cheese mines.
|
"Grow up."
dude, whats your problem? |
Isn't there already a thread about this?
"Where. Is. The. Need?" |

lol, yeah thanks for using my own words against me, AquaticAmbi ;-)
But no, the other thread is about playstation 5 |

You guys are thilly gooses. It won't be the PS5. It'll be the X-Station 2 featuring a Pentium VIII processor. Any educated person knows that Nintendo will die off, all large companies dealing with technology will merge into a giant conglomerate, and the world will be under Bill Gate's immortal, digitalized dictorial rule. Also note there will be telescreens in the homes of all Party members, and the gaming proletariot will never revolt against the government. And remember, Halo was designed specifically for the X-Station. Halo was always designed specifically for the X-Station. There was never a time when Halo fanboys were forced into rivalry against other consoles based on principle. In fact, there were never even any other console lines.

Can you even guess what it's like to study Robotics when everyone in the world just assumes that means C-3PO? Let me say this: whilst it is possible to create a humanoid, walking robot, there will never be any practical use for it because it needs huge amounts of expensive technology and computer power just to balance when you could just add an extra two legs or change it into three wheels and have no problem at all. |
Yeah. Nintendo is going the way of Sega. I wish they would hurry up and stop making consoles so I don't have to pay $60 for a pawned Nintendo system every time I want to play a new Zelda game.
But you have to admit, they have their own way of doing things and they've stuck with it. Call it a bad business move, call it old fashioned stubbornness, but the fact that their business plan is so conversely different from that of Sony and Microsoft deserves some admiration. Nintendo has sack. ... Things are looking good for gaming. Graphics in the PS3 and PC realm are nearing photo-realism, and that's just about as good as it gets. Soon, however, games are going to hit an absolute zenith. There is going to be a time when production costs (upwards of $70-80 a game?!) will have to meet graphical superiority halfway; a point where games simply, for financial reasons, can not look any better. Maybe not in this generation of consoles, but certainly the next. It is then, I hope, that developers will began moving in a fourth dimension of gaming... VR and brain stimulation. While all of this PS5/7 nonsense is still nonsense, it is interesting to note that Sony has acquired a patent for a similar form of entertainment (although I'm sure there are too many rumors and joke sites around to get a clear explanation). One thing is for sure, gaming is reaching it's (pardon the cliche) final frontier. Plus, being able to play Halo through a visor in a real-world environment would totally kick ass. :p |
I think we may see a sort of gaming revolution in the next few years. Games like Katamari Damacy are popping up and making money without hugely amazing graphics. Eventually publishers are going to wake up and realise that whilst gamers like good graphics, what they really want is a good game. We may even see some sort of two tier system where expensive games with amazing graphics cost $70+ and games that are actually fun cost less.
I think Nintendo is starting to realise that and are gradually pushing that sort of game forward (which is why they're not trying to compete on a graphical level with the DS and the Revolution, but rather putting in unusual controllers and things like that). But Sony and Microsoft aren't going to take any notice any time soon what with their whores of next-next-gen consoles. |
