Well..... Most Members are Just mean to new members, Boast That they are better and ect. I think this should stop! Who aggres?

Oddish 05-10-2005 12:30 PM

It wouldn't be so mean if you posted in the right places, for a start. This ain't nothing to do with oddworld.

Xavier 05-10-2005 12:44 PM

I'm moving this to the right place...

Kimon 05-10-2005 12:53 PM

Well, you're off to a good start.

As a rule, I think we should try to extend our courtesy to the new members here, but when the stingbee clones come along (and I've noticed a lot of them lately) they practically ask for flames.

Yep, I've gotta agree with that statement there. Although I think that several new members have not exactly been welcomed with open arms, (And I personally think that treating new members like this is mean and harsh.) there have been a few members come on here that are almost identical to that one member that we all know about. ;) :/ Now THAT also has to stop, in my opinion. (I mean come on! Useless spam irritates people to the very end! )

A lot of these new members are retarded. Plus, you basically ask for it. You even put this topic in the wrong place.

Haha. Yeah.

Speaking of such things, has "the dreaded one" finally left the forums like he promised he would? I haven't seen a post from him in about 4 days! That's about 50 potential posts.

Esus 05-10-2005 11:18 PM

Every so often we seem to get an influx of 10-11 year olds, who, quite frankly, literally can't use a forum.
Lots of new members join and fit it perfectly.

Alcar 05-11-2005 04:29 AM

Er, Fuzzleman54321 has been around for a couple of months, guys... He ain't a new member :|

Even so, I agree, a lot of the established members can be real bastards. Which can be rather sad, seeing as this is an online forum - then again, this is an outlet for anger for a lot of people. I don't see why people can't just go and belt whoever it is you're angry with.

:

Or how sad your art is. If you were my child, and I spent my hard earned money on a gift for you and all I got in return was some half-assed online thank you card, I'd throw all your shit in a box, toss it in the front yard and boot you along with it.

This is an example I'd like to share. Is this cool? I think Abe Babe or Alcar should ban these kind of people. It's not like moderaters are 'special' or something.

*Edit: I think private messeging should stop this kind of thing.

Statikk HDM 05-11-2005 02:09 PM

It can be intimidating when a guy with a couple thousand posts starts talking smack to you. Man, I've been here for a few years and even I feel like a peasant sometimes. I think the main turn off is "The Freak Out." Some statements that kick that off are things like "Stop bringing back old topics" and "Post in the Right Board." Most of these are just little misunderstandings and not done out of malice or genuine stupidity.

Wow, we should make some sort of club. ;)
With free beer and Peter orginess.

Oddish 05-12-2005 07:54 AM

I didn't know polls could do that, hah.

So, what dose "mean" mean? Is just to be nasty becuase you feel like, or is it a way teaching?

Prehaps some people are bieng mean to the Rules, in other world thier disrespecting the rules. Then those people are mean the rules get meaned at themselfs. Sometimes mean can a way of telling someone off, like parents or teachers, they seem mean to you, but thier just making things fair.

So.... yeah, but sometimes it can be unfair, depending who and how the members are dealing it, but it can very much fair.

'tis a public poll; you can see who chose the options.
It also means that all the 'yes' people are on my hitlist, stupid sympathetic fools! ;)

Maybe you deserve it, I sometimes don't like your attitude.

This should be in the off topic section!

Oops!

You're an idiot... I think this should stop... but do you stop being an idiot simply because I want you to stop? No. Does this give me the right to be mean to you? Yes.

For so long as you're an idiot, I'm going to hate you. If you ever stop being an idiot, then we can be friends, hold hands, skip merrily through grassy meadows, and have gay buttsex under the prettyful stars. Capiche?

Facsimile 05-13-2005 12:57 AM

I think most of the time people are 'mean' to a new user when they actually deserve it. There are a lot of new members who sign up, don't spam, put topics in the right places, etc. that are fine and never get hassled.

These people also make intelligent posts, or at least relevant ones.
Which, believe it or not, is the purpose of all internet forums, not to spam the fuck out of them.

Admit it now. You are mawk, aren't you.

Oddish 05-13-2005 09:10 AM

Also some people artn't used to the forums rules, it's take time. (posting in the wrong places, and mostly off-topic things in the GODs section)

But it is the attitudes you should be aiming at.

Dino 05-13-2005 05:06 PM

Admit it now. You are mawk, aren't you.

All characters portrayed in this user account are purely Dino, and any resemblance to other persons, imagined or real, is purely coincidental.

So no, no I'm not 'mawk'.

You so are.

And this thread is pointless now. We have two other threads which basically say the same thing.
