Dont make sense!
Have any of you noticed in AE when you are in Feco Depot and you go to were the Greeter is, the screen between the entrace to SoulStorm and Feco Executive Office. There is a door blocked off and a sign says coming soon and you know what it is? Why its...VYKKERS LABS?!?!?!
Is it me or does anyone else find it stange that Vykkers Labs was a spaceship and there was no possible way to get to it by train. Dont make sense! |
It could be a flying train. Or a train to a station from where you can take a flying train. Whatever those flapping vehicle things are.

Agreed. This is why one of my options is that a train departs from through that door, which takes you to another station, where you may board a flying train. Not that there's any reason why flying trains wouldn't be allowed at FeeCo except they were never mentioned. |
My Idea was that the Train goes from the FeeCo Depot to a kind of Station full of Blimps that goes from that station to VL and back.

Or maybe a train going to Vyker Lab's docking area.

I remember someone asking alf this before. Of course he replied like this.
"Just because you saw a sign saying 'Vykkers Labs coming soon' doesn't mean that it will be there. If you saw a poster for the circus in a shop window it doesn't mean that the circus will be in that shop." Well that was the jist of what he said. But that sign does point to that door. |
Maybe it's just an advertisement for Vykkers labs, not a sign to say that a train goes there, if yo ugo to a train station and see big posters, you don't think that they take you to perfume factories and things.
Another thearoy is that OI didn't know that Vykkers labs was going to be a blimp. |

There was an old theory that somewhere on Mudos there was a ground base Vykkers Labs. This suggest that maybe the feeco trains travel to this ground base which would so happen to be the main Vykker's facility.
I can definitly see a scene in which there is this vast labortory with Vykkers ships docking and redocking with it. Almost like a huge hub or Blimp Hanger Oddworld style. |
The Labs in Munch's Oddysee was Vykkers Labs 12, which rather implies that there are at least 11 other Vykkers Labs, any number of which could be based on the ground. There is a Vykkers Underground Facility, the entrance to which is depicted in The Art of Oddworld Inhabitants.
But the fact that OWI didn't plan on making Vykkers Labs airborne at that point in time is almost definitely true also. ;) |
Hey Max is there any illustrations dypicting the underground facility? If so post it I would love to see something like that. Unfortunately I don't own The Art of Oddworld which I truely need to fix but yeah I would like to see something like that.

The entrance in Abe Exoddus would have been a underground one (maybe the one that Sam's held in, cos' the concept pics of them looks like it would be very deep underground). It does make sense that of the possbility of more then 1 Vykkers lab on Mudos, otherwise they would be too easy to wipe out the Vykkers crazy experiments and product lines... |

A shadow of what? I cant see anything that would give it the right shape shadow to make a 2 look like a 3.

Godlesswanderer's right this time. Face it it truly is a 13. it aint a shadow cause the part where the 3 goes up again is red.

And in response to the actual topic: In you want to look at it properly, there's a sign for a Vykkers Lab train because the people down at Oddworld were just giving us hints about what was coming in the next game, and as Nate_dog_woof said, they probably hadn't designed the Labs yet, so they hadn't made it airbourne. And if you want to take the preferable in-universe look at it, I've always thought it would go to a docking bay of some kind, either for the labs, or for blimps to get to the labs. and...flying trains? Dude, they're called Planes. ;-) ... ...and yeah thats a 13 I reckon |
So its settled (at least for me).
The sign in Feco points to the Underground Vykkers Labs entrance (which I am guessing is Number I and were the over ships can come for fuel), and Number I is were Sam is. Abe and Munch (and the Fuzzles) blew up Number 13 so there are at least 11 more Airborne Vykkers Labs out there. AGREE? |
Not necessarily number 1. The numbers may only count for the airborne ones. Home base may be something completely different. And I doubt they would keep Sam there as the whole point of Vykker's Labs being airborne was for security. Sam would be kept in as safe a place as possible.
I wonder why the lab in MO had so many egg crates there if Sam wasn't on board. What do you think they did with them? Is my memory screwing up or do I remember hearing something about Sam being kept in the ruins of RuptureFarms? |
