CVG Interviews Lorne
OddBlog's CMS is once again up the spout, but we continue to broadcast unhampered.
Computer and Video Games's Graeme Boyde has interviewed Lorne Lanning, mostly with stupid, pointless, throwaway questions. Lorne even complains against their choice of words at one point, which satisfied me no end. I'm not a fan of CVG's bizarre attempts at journalism at all, but there are some interesting things said in here - because it's Lorne who's being interviewed. http://www.computerandvideogames.com/news/news_story.php(que)id=117845 EDIT: Credit can't go to OddBlog after all : Oddish has actaully already found it and tucked it away in another topic, so … credit goes to Oddish! |
"The next Oddworld game, Fangus, seemed to be shaping up nicely. What's the status of this project given your decision? Will it still appear as a videogame or has it been canned?
Lorne Lanning: It was shaping up nicely, but it was still an Xbox-only title. If you look at this coming Xmas, most of the press and gamer attention will be on Xbox2 and we felt that an Xbox only title, without live play, would likely not succeed at retail regardless of how good it may turn out." Well, at least we have a confirmation, even if it wasn't the answer we were hoping for. I totally understand why they made the choice, only the hardcore gamers would check it out with Xbox 360 looming overhead. |
Aright, this one worked fine then, not the link that I posted.
Edit: Thanks Max. |

I thought the same thing. Although I wish Fangus would be made for Xbox 2. Maybe, you never know. |
I think we can forget fangus for a little while...
I don't think it's going to be here soon |
I hope Lorne Lanning just suddenly pulls Fangus outta his hat without even telling anyone but his company about the games release date. So the only info is released a week before the game is released. That would be sweet.
P.S. does anyone have the art of oddworld? and if so how big is this book? like how many pages. |
:
I don't care about Fangus at all, and from seeing one image of him I already despise him. I don't know what has people all worked up over him when we had one picture, one desription, and Fangus looked like Stranger with a cougar head and beefier upper arms. Also, why is it a cool thing to not get told anything whatsoever about a project except two seconds before it's available? No anticipation, no marketing, no fan input, no nothing. That would entirely suck. |
:
I think it made my gaming experience better. |
:
Fangus could have looked quite different than Stranger, we didn't see his face so clearly.. But I wanted a darker OW game, damn it. I'm kinda sceptical if OW decides to proceed in television. It would be lame. And I doubt it would be even seen in Europe. Movie about AO and/or AE would be awesome. |
:
what she was trying to say is that if Lorne did that Fangus would have had even less marketing attention then Stranger and even less sales. |
