Is anybody celebrating 4/20? I'm just curious. I can't because it's a Wednsday and I have tons of homework.

For those who don't know, 4/20 is National Marijuana Day. In the US, at least.

Yeah dude, I'm smoking a bowl of homegrown right now. :D

Mmmmm... homegrown. I'd do that, but I heard it smells a lot after about 6 inches. Plus, my mom constantly raids my room. Well, happy Hash Day!

I'll ask you people the question I've asked everyone who talks about the significance of the 20th of April. WHAT is the significance of the 20th of April?! In other words, why is it National Marijuana Day?

It's because 420 is the police term for a marijuana bust (the thing they say over the radio, i.e. we've got a 420 here, over. *kkksshchcht*). And that's why 4/20 is a special day for weed. :)

There's tons of theories about why it's on the 20th on April (4/20). One is the one above. Another is that the a group of college students in the US way back used to meet up at 4:20 in the afternoon for an afternoon joint session (:D). I can't remember any more.

Growing in your parents house is a bad idea. But it is possible to do it without them noticing. You can grow in your wardrobe, closet, in a rubbermaid, in a speaker box, anywhere!

Also, it's not true that it smells a lot after 6 inches. It only smells during flowering. If you start flowering at 6 inches (which would produce next to nothing but lets just assume you did) then you would start to get a smell at 6 inches and beyond. If you didn't flower until it was 2 foot tall, then you wouldn't get a smell for as long as it took to grow all 24 inches.

At least, that's as far as my experience has gone. I've never had any smells until flowering.

Also, you can get strains that don't smell much at all. Apollo 11 and C99 are well known for this. However if you do decide to go with something smelly (like skunk, white widow, northern lights, or AK47) you could always get or make a carbon filter.

A 420 is police radio reporting code for a marijuana arrest. 4/20 is national stick it to the man day as a result of this. People will often gather and openly smoke weed in public on 4/20. Also it is the day when a lot of pro-MJ-legalisation marches happen. Interestingly the police don't usually intervene.

Weed is ick. And i loathe the fact they've made a day for it. We might as well have a day for everything at this rate "National Rape day", "National Foetus eating day", "National Black pride day".

Well, unlike those things (besides the last, I don't see what's wrong with that), smoking weed isn't morally wrong or harmful. Actually, I find that it's the most harmless (in terms of doing stupid stuff that hurts people).

And Dino, are saying you have your own place? But you're only a year older than me... it must be that you graduate earlier, hence leaving for college two years before to me (Damn you). Is that it?

Nobody knows if it's harmful or not. There have been mixed reports. Some including suggestions that it increases the chances of suffering from paranoia/depression.

Heh. Well that link was informative, but so completely biased. Rite of passage? DAMAGED by being excluded from smoking pot? Mmmyeaaahh right. I don't care if people smoke pot, but this guy sounds like he wants to go around getting young adults to do it. But anyway.

I was referring to being harmful for those around you. Usually you don't do stupid deadly stuff when you're high. Like that anti-drug commercial where that kid's like, "Hey, this my dad's gun. Hehe." And the other kid says, "Hehe. I wonder if it's loaded." Then the kid accidentally shoots him. That sorta stuff doesn't happen. Stoned people would be too scared to touch a gun, at least stoned people with any common sense. Yeah, it does have bad effects on the person taking it of course, but that's the case with everything.

Scientists in the UK, are doing new investigations on Marijuana. I dont know if its good or bad things about it though.

That's a good article, Dino. Disproves many common misconcpetions.

What's scary is it reveals the true extent of official government anti-drugs propaganda, spread by organisations who disseminate misinformation about marijuana among the general public. This criminalises marijuana users and growers, forcing them to distance themselves from society.

It just goes to show that marijuana is very much oppressed - people SHOULD march, publicly demonstrate, and have "marijuana pride" days. It's the same kind of oppression that has effected homosexuals and black people, and there's only one way to fight it: to educate the people on the facts of MJ, the realities of the MJ oppression, and unite MJ supporters against those who's only goal in life is to spoil things for others.

It's NOT RIGHT to jail someone simply for growing and/or smoking a plant that's less harmless than both tobacco and alcohol combined. It's a breach of human rights of biblical proportions.

Someone in America got put in prison for 5 years just for growing some MJ, Ill try to find something about it. But isnt that pathetic 5 years just for doing some gardening... pretty much.

I'll see if I can get some pictures of my weed plants online and post them here. Just to kinda say "fuck the man" and celebrate the occasion. :D
