Yes, a new Pontiff has been appointed to become head of the Roman Catholic Church. He's German and his name is Joseph Ratzinger, although he's now changed his papal name to Pope Benedict XVI.

My first impression of him is that he looks like a combination of my grandpa, one of the school guidance counselors, and the Penguin from Batman Returns. And seven point two times scarier than said combination.

And I for one, think he looks just like the new pope. Fuck uncle fester, he doesn't look anything like uncle fester. He looks like Giger.

But I still don't get one thing. Why appoint such an old pope? Surely he'll be reaching the last yeras of his life soon, if he already isn't in them. The whole process will have to start again, and it really is unnecessary hassle.

The current theory that's in circulation is that he's a temporary Pope, who will assume the role of pontiff during the real selection process.
