What some stuff reminded me of...
 

Yeah, I had some things here for a few of the games, but I can only remember a couple of Stranger.
Well, the bounty hunter himself reminds me of Van Helsing, believe it or not. Both are essentially bounty hunters, both are essentially 'in-hiding', both have a crossbow which does all sorts of crazy crap, and both are revealled to be a lot more by the end of their adventure - Vel Helsing is the warewolf (though this is because he is bitten in the film..) and Stranger is the steef. Both are the good guys in a prophesy that states that the said good guy will kill the singular bad guy - the oktigi or the vampire.
Now, Sekto being in control of a steef reminded me of Animorphs, of all things. If I remember correctly, the leader of the invasionary forces was a parasite (much like an oktigi) who was in the control of an unwilling host. Not only that, but the unwilling host was a four-legged centaur creature (an Andalite) who was one of two andalites featured in the story. there were other andalites, but they were rarely there. At the end of the story, in both Stranger and Animorphs, the host is rid of his parasite. I don't know if the andalite dies like the Olden Steef does, I've forgotten.

Are you reminded of any other stories by the Oddworld ones?

I remember back a long while ago me saying Stranger has similarities to Van Helsing.

Well, I am reminded of Conker's Bad Fur Day, whenever I play Stranger, because the story is very ominous, yet humorous in some parts of both games. I get a similar feel for some reason, but the stories themselves are completely different.

As to what other games/movies/etc that remind me of Stranger... I don't recall any, and that's probably why I thought it was so unique when I first saw it.

Stranger kind of reminds me of Archer from the movie "small soldiers"... I mean c'mon, they are both cat-like humans with a crossbow...

'Chicken Run' Always reminded me of AO trrieing to escape from this farm.

I saw Waterworld recently (I thought it was a decent movie), and the main character reminded me of Stranger. He was a loner who cared little for others and made money doing something he's very good at (getting dirt), had an unusual biological feature that he hid in his boots, and was almost killed by a group of villagers when his identity was revealed.
