Pope about to die...

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/7263878/

Yep, it's official, the Pope is ready to expire any minute now. I have no idea how the world is going to react to this, what are your thoughts?

a flock of seagulls 04-01-2005 06:53 PM

there'll be more.
dont you worry.

SeaRex 04-01-2005 07:21 PM

As harsh as this may seem, I've been saying that the Pope should either retire or die for a long time.

Really now. Once the weight of your hat bends your spine into a hook shape, it's time to step down.

But in all seriousness, as leader of an entire sect of Christianity, you would think it would be bad for morale to allow your self to deteriorate so fully into old age. I mean, I'm not exactly up to speed on Catholic dogma, but they should at least make a new law thingy saying that the Pope should have to step down once he becomes a certain age. I mean, there is a limit to the things you can effectively do when you get to be... his... age...

You know.

TheRaisin 04-01-2005 07:39 PM

No, I don't.

I feel bad about not feeling worse. But the fact is, the Pope doesn't really have any effect on my life whatsoever. I recognize the importance of this event as it pertains to other people, but personally, it just doesn't really mean anything to me. I feel so ashamed.

And I think he passed since the last post. Somebody in this chatroom was saying he died. Maybe they were just screwing with me.

Disgruntled Intern 04-01-2005 07:42 PM

Like most feeble geriatrics I'm surprised no one's pushed him down a flight of stairs yet.

I hope his death is miserably agonizing.

Turd.

Al the Glukkon 04-01-2005 07:52 PM

Are you telling me this was fake?

Oh, don't click on any of those links.

People always say that the pope has died. Seems to be like one of those popular lies that you say once in a while to catch people off gaurd.

To be honest I don't think that you should be ashamed or feel bad. I was going to mention in my first post that I've predicted that the majority of the world won't even care about his death. To everyone who isn't christian (and that's a growing majority now) the pope is just another meaningless person.

I'm guessing kindness isn't a requirement for being a moderator? Or are you being sarcastic?

Oh, and by the way, why is it my Chimera topic was closed? The links seemed to work fine for me.

Fuzzle Guy 04-01-2005 10:48 PM

Disgruntled is never nice, and I don't think he was being sarcastic, although I think it's best he dies soon before he has to live through any more pain.

Alcar 04-01-2005 10:55 PM

The Papacy is a job for life. I've always thought that having to die in his job was rather 'romantic'. He was a good person, and he'll die in peace. And another will suceed him. Such is the way of things.

The first word in his user name is Disgruntled, so bleh.

'Bout time ol' Popey went the chute. If he sounds like a freaky zombie when trying to speak into a microphone, and he can't even say a coherent word, kill the poor bastard. Surely he wil go to a better place..?

Oh good lord, that sounded so cheesey.

No. Why would it be?
The job of a mod is not to dance for people, and to give everyone lollies and rainbows.

Oh and on the pope topic, it doesn't affect me whatsoever. I'm not even sure what he does.

Dino 04-02-2005 12:44 AM

Hahaha, lmfao. I'm gunna store that up for later use. "lollies and rainbows" that's class!

Hobo 04-02-2005 01:08 AM

I wish i'd put money on when i said he'd pop his clogs this week.

My mate figures he's like Doctor Who and just regenerates into a new form anyway. That's religion for you. Psh.

-Aquacid- 04-02-2005 01:32 AM

my thoughts are that i dont care since people die all the time, what makes him so special? im not catholic anyway so he can buggar off (I dont mean to sound mean)

Hobo 04-02-2005 01:38 AM

Why do they pity the poor suffering bastard, yet remain strongly against euthenasia?

*Makes this official religion bitch 05 thread*

Cyber-Slig 04-02-2005 02:44 AM

I'm not catholic, so I don't bother much. You should just finish him off, and let him see if the place he was preaching about all his life, actually exists.

stingbee 04-02-2005 02:49 AM

Im not catholic aswell so I don't take much notice besides he is a man with a funny hat big wow

Well, the Catholic world will be upset for sure. Don't think people from other faiths will mind though. Most people probably won't even bat an eyelid, the way it is these days.

stingbee 04-02-2005 03:03 AM

as I said he is just a man with a funny hat

What? I haven't heard or seen anything about his death. Are you sure?

Alcar...

dripik 04-02-2005 03:51 AM

I haven't seen anything about his death on Hungarian info portals either. Not yet, I suppose. They said he's barely breathing and his blood pressure has fallen. Many people pray for him all day here, in Hungary too.

soulstice 04-02-2005 03:52 AM

I don't know what to believe now.

http://www.abc.net.au/news/newsitems...4/s1336705.htm

Right now, the Pope seems pretty much DoA.

duveaux 04-02-2005 04:05 AM

He isn't dead...!?
These weird churches in Utrecht... |-)
Nope, I wasn't sure he died but, In the middle of the day suddenly without a reason I heard clocks...

:

VATICAAN, SHOW SOME PICTURES OF HIM IF YOU WANT EVERYBODY TO BELIEVE HE'S NOT DEAD!!!

'I'm not catholic, so I don't bother much. You should just finish him off, and let him see if the place he was preaching about all his life, actually exists.'

Aren't you a Christian?

I always thought Christians and Catholics were more-or-less the same, aside from minor differences, and looked up to the Pope equally. Meh.

My feelings are mixed about the Pope, the Catholic side of me is all "Aww, bless." but then the rest of me is just like "Bothered? No."

They apparently want the next Pope to be older...so he dies quicker.

I thought the term 'Christian' was the collective term for all Protestants, Catholics, Lutherans, Orthodox etc...Maybe that's just ignorance on my part, can someone clarify this for me please.

Alcar 04-02-2005 04:32 AM

Soulstice, you are correct.

Jacob is making the point that Christian religions also happen to proclaim the existance of Heaven. Even Protestants, Cyber-Slig...
